Very well said Kelly. Whenever someone reads,"Snacks to Slim You Down". The very last thing on their mind is eating fruits and veggies. Dieting is hard!! So if you are just starting out, these small "substitutions" if you will, are a small stepping stone to realizing how bad almost all snack foods really are. Until I started dieting I never thought that the good ole poptart was that bad for you, 200 calories and at least 5 grams of fat!! It's also nice to get new ideas for snacks when you are tired of just FRUITS and VEGGIES as snacks!

Umm. How about some fruit? Or some veggies? STOP with all the packaged food!!!! No wonder you all are fat. Its not the calories...its that most of you just sit around and don't burn any! I just can't take it anymore with these mindless 'stories'.

these snacks are indeed better than soaked-in-grease fries or some other toxic waste-like junks out there. nevertheless, it does not help anyone to form a healthy eating habit. if anyone feels that he/she did ok by having one of these snacks and continue to do so day after day, that person is just taking a long way to ruining his/her health. i totally understand the good intention behind these ideas, but everyone should think about a long term results.

If what Hungry Girl is saying is so unhealthy, then why have I lost 50 lbs. since Feb. 17th by including these snacks? Fruits and veggies are wonderful for us but just because we need to lose weight (I'm speaking for these of us trying) doesn't mean we don't deserve something different. Some of you sound like you think you know everything and guess what YOU DON'T. If you don't like eating them then don't. Mind your own business. I personally think you like to come in and post crap to get people to respond, I personally think your idiots.
HUNDRY GIRL YOU ROCK. Keep up the good work.

This stupid b--- doesnt have any knowledge of nutrition if this is her idea of healthy low cal food. All she does is mention BRAND NAMES. Yahoo must be desperate because they are progressively becoming swayed toward supporting other corporations.
Wake up THIS IS ONE BIG ADVERTISEMENT!

I agree with the posters who feel that these suggestions are unhealthy and unresponsible. Americans need to completely make over their concept of eating, the first thing to do is throw out the processed crud which-- even in small amounts-- is killing you. no joke. this site always feels to me like someone is getting paid to make these suggestions-- thinly veiled advertising.
Here is a healthy snake-- I tbls. almond butter and an apple.
A few slices of healthy nitrate free turkey and one piece of cheese
Some walnuts and grapes
these items are actually food, not empty calories that are composed of ingridients that will one day shut down your heart.

High Fructose Corn Syrup is an altered form of the already terrible corn syrup, and since it is a HUMAN-CREATED chemical your body is unable to properly break it down...
and it is stored as....
yes, all you hungry ladies...
FAT.
so eat up.

I must agree with many of you that while these snacks may be low in fat and calories, they're anything but "healthy". Low calorie/fat junk food is all they are.

How about reccommending real food?Seriously does it matter if its 200 cals if it is still processed non-food?
My favorite would be almond butter on Ahmek crackers, or any of the Kavli crackers.Or on an apple or pear.

Lillit is right. Just eat real food, even for snacks. Eat popcorn, eat a piece of homemade choc. cake. You'll feel more satisfied. Obesity epidemic dates back to start of artificial sweeteners, high-fructose corn syrup, etc. Thin people eat real food & go on their way. Fat people obsess all day long over all these fake foods, & continue to get fatter.

this is just advertising for processed foods. keep fruit around the house for snacking, simply don't buy the processed stuff if you don't want to be tempted to eat unhealthfully.
BTW 'eggies'??? when did adult professional writers sink to baby talk?
No wonder women complain of being treated like children when that is how many of us communicate.

Here's my fave quick snack.. half a slice of whole wheat with a fried egg. Real food. Get it. Sometimes I throw a tomato on there or eat some cherries or orange slices on the side. Real food. The process crap is NOT NOURISHING, all of you who like this stuff are going to pay for it, there are so many diabetics out there is unreal. Ya all need to pay attention before it bites you in your big butt.

agreed 100% with lillit!!! bunch of crap food.. what's wrong with having good wholesome food. none of this processed crap!!!! look at the ingredants..
why not try a farmer market and get great veggies and fruit.. know there's an idea!!! doesn't take a rocket scientist to figure that out.

I agree with everyone that says this is an advertisement. All junk food. And the comment about this person using the word "eggies" is eye opening. I agree, when did adults start using such demeaning verbiage?

I have battled a serious weight issue for years, finally managing to shed 120 pounds through diet and exercise and re-learning to eat right to keep it off. But in my world there are times that I crave something sweet. I eat healthier than most people, with my diet being monitered by a registered dietician. Hungry girl is not suggesting that you live on this stuff, but having ideas like this helps you to make it through the times when everyone around you at the theatre is downing a huge buttered popcorn and extra large soda, something that I simply can't do anymore. So c'mon people, sometimes everyone likes to indulge, and these are great suggestions for those of us trying to make sure we do the right thing so we can be healthy and stay on track the rest of the time.

I believe the readers' rating on here is manipulated by yahoo. From the amount of negative comments seen on here, the rating should be 45 - 50%.
Nice ploy yahoo. Sell sell sell!

if someone can't take anymore of these "mindless stories" why do they even read them? and as for the fat thing!.. most women that seriously diet have on average 10 to 20 pounds to loss. That's not fat! and most of them have children. hey, why dont you carry a kid around inside you for 9 months and see if you dont gain a few pounds. further more, even moms that dont work, or workout, probably burn more calories at home doing mom things, then you do sitting at the computer making fun of people that are trying to do something for themselves, whether these ideas are good or bad, they are trying.
So, another good idea for a hot day: Breyers fat free vanilla icecream and diet a&w rootbeer!
All these snacks sound really good! I'm def. gonna try the one with Cool Whip!
To everyone who's complaining that these snacks are not healthy, compare them to eating a whole bag of butter popcorn or potato chips. It's not meant to be your whole entire diet made out of just these foods- it's SNACK FOOD. You can get all your fresh fruits and veggies at your meal time. Personally, when I'm craving chocolate- a piece of celery is NOT gonna help me out. These are healthier alternatives to normal snacks so stop trying to make them seem horrible. I think they're great ideas!

Wow! So many of you are missing the point! These are snacks that are meant to replace those cravings that practically anybody that breathes air will have from time to time. They are NOT meant to replace fresh fruits, lean proteins and vegetables which need to be part of everyone's diet. What she is saying is eat THESE snacks instead of the chocolate cake or a bag of cookies when you have a "cheat" moment. And relax.
