Think you need to give up ribs, sausages, steaks and ground beef to fit into your bathing suit this summer? No way! Check out Hungry Girl's guilt-free finds for those carnivorous cravings...

Crave Steak? Order Up!

Think steak's off-limits when you're dining out and counting calories? Guess again! Steak can actually be one of the better options on the menu, as long as you follow a few simple guilt-free guidelines. Go for a lean cut, like filet or sirloin. Avoid the fattier cuts, like shell steak, skirt steak and ribeye. And no need to order the 20-ouncer -- steak's loaded with protein, so you'll fill up fast, even with a petite portion.

Love to Rib It Up? Try Gardenburger BBQ Riblets!

Saucy, meaty, savory ribs are AWESOME -- no doubt about it. But, they're also loaded with fat and are typically served in ginormous portions, so those calories can really rack up (get it?!). The folks at GB have hit it out of the park with their individually packed, saucy, meatless BBQ Riblets! Each serving (about 5 oz. and no bones!) has 240 calories, 4.5g fat, and 5g fiber. Plus, each Riblet is swimming in so much delicious BBQ sauce, you can easily toss in a ton of veggies to bulk up your meal. Mmmmmmm!

Sucker for Sausage? So Many Options!

The average b-fast sausage patty has around 200 calories and 15g fat. Eeeks. Kick a craving for a pre-noon pork patty with a meatless version, like the ones by Yves (2 small patties = 80 calories and 2g fat) and Morningstar Farms (1 patty = 80 calories and 3g fat).

Jonesin' for an actual fat sausage link for lunch or dinner? A regular one (beef or pork) will cost you at least 200 calories and around 20 grams of fat! But there are chicken and soy sausages out there that taste just as good, with way less fat and fewer calories! Check out the meatless ones by Boca (1 link = 130 to 140 calories and 6 to 7g fat) and Al Fresco's big fat rockin' chicken sausages (1 link = 130 - 160 calories and 6 to 7g fat). Both brands offer crazy-good flavors, like Boca's Smoked Sausage (with garlic and honey) and Al Fresco's Sweet Apple (with maple syrup inside!). These are sooooo worth seeking out...

Ground Beef Goes Guilt-Free!

Love Mexican food, meatloaf, meaty pizzas and more? We sure do! But even lean ground beef is pretty high in fat, and ground turkey doesn't always do the trick. Enter ground-beef-style soy crumbles! Our favorites are these freezer-aisle finds: Boca Ground Burger and Morningstar Farms Meal Starters Grillers Recipe Crumbles. We use them to make slimmed-down Taco Bell swaps (like our latest: a guilt-free take on the Cheesy Beefy Melt!), tamale pie, an eight-layer dip, and so much more! These crumbles taste like the real thing and are super-easy to add to any recipe. But best of all, with impressively low calorie and fat counts, they're the guilt-free answer to fatty ground beef!

Hungry for More?

Check out the Manly Meals chapter of Hungry Girl: Recipes and Survival Strategies for Guilt-Free Eating in the Real World for TONS of guilt-free meat-tastic recipes. We've got a recipe for Sloppy Janes! There's a Philly Cheesesteak swap that's impressed even diehard fans. And then there's our meatloaf... not just any meatloaf ... Crazy-Good Turkey Taco Meatloaf! The book's in stores now, and it's packed with 165 recipes and so much more!!!

Bob Evans now has turkey sausage links on the menu. They are great and you can substitute them for bacon or regular sausage on any breakfast ;)

I just had a boiled egg and a hot dog (no bread) for lunch. Are hot dogs (beef ball park) fattening?

Beef ball park, I think they're up there as far as fat goes but the sodium will bloat you up quicker

I agree, ever since I tried turkey sausage, I have never gone back. Also, the Boca Burgers are delicious. They taste just like regular burgers, and are extremely lowfat. (3 - total WW points if you add mustard, ketchup, pickles and onions on a 2 point bun). I prefer to have mine BBQ'd, but pan-frying in a small dab of olive oil is also good. Season it just like you would any other burger. ;-)

The Morning Star ground beef crumbles had me fooled the first time I ate them. My mother mixed them with a taco seasoning packet and didn't tell us that it wasn't hamburger. Those were some of the best tacos I ever had. I was surprised to find out that they were meat-free.

I don't like the morning star crumble that much. But all the other morningstar products, like the beef and chicken stripplets are so good! And the breakfast scramblers are to die for!

Red meat is not healthy. Recently a correlation between eating red meat and cancer was established. Also, it has a high correlation with other diseases, such as coronary diseases. Further, it is very destructive to the environment. If you stop eating red meat, you will do more to save the environment than not driving. So this article is rather ignorant and outdated.

Quit lying to yourselves, if you want a hamburger, eat a hamburger, if you don't? Then eat a plant or something, why do you have to lie to yourselves and try to shape soy into something you crave? Lack of will power if you ask me.

How dare you refer to vegetarian items as meat this article was misleading. For the love of flesh please dont do that. I support veggie heads in there efforts to keep the animals going, I can eat meat and fish alot longer in this world with the more vegetarians. God bless them, but give me the same respect I give them dont try to convert me, I dont do it to them

You can still eat organic meat, beef or whatever, as long it is only occasionally. I have lost 35 pounds in last 6 months eating organic beef and turkey meat in tacos once or twice a week. I also eat organic steaks about once a month. You just have to not load up your tacos with cheese and sour cream. Instead put organic avacado and soy cheese, along with some great salsa on your tacos. Also I always use organic corn tortillas, that are low in fat and calories. It's all about portions too...only have 1 or 2 tacos.

I hate anything that is not meat, but is suppose to taste like meat. I do like garden burgers as they are not trying to make them taste like meat. I prefer to make low fat things with turkey or chicken myself.

I highly highly recommend Ball Park Turkey Franks. They are about 50 calories each and no fat. I put my spicy mustard and some sauerkraut on there and I absolutely cant tell the difference. I ate two of those a day for lunch with some fruit on the side during my diet and it really helped me lose weight. With rolls and fruit, it ends up being about a 300 - 350 calorie lunch.

I being a carnivore and if I want meat I'll eat meat no matter what anyone tells me. I do eat a lot veggie but I would eat them the way my parents and grandparent did, raw or semi-cooked and yes there are dangers involved mishandled food or pestdicides. Plus they look like veggies. Also for # 25 QUILTYD. Its not cows that destry the environment, its people. Do you really think the rainforest is cut down by ranchers, think again its by farmers growing guess what crops for ethenol and veggies for a growing population. Want to save the planet, have everyone practice birth control.
