There is absolutely nothing wrong with eating real meat, in the right quantity! There is something wrong with people that don't want to enjoy dozens of amino acids and proteins not found in plant refuse. Global Warming is a complete joke (don't believe me then perhaps you can come to Minnesota and scrap the frost off my nuts in late MAY) and all you drum beating hippies are the reason that this countries production and economy suck! You complain when we try to build a nuclear power plant to provide cheaper energy to business and consumers. You complain when we build a new oil refinery so we can meet the countries demand for gas. You complain when companies polute a very small amount and do more benifits then good! If you want to save the planet stop complaining, get off your ass, and do some productive work. If you were a little more busy then you could quit worrying about what I put in my body.

Another bad article about food by Yahoo. There are a lot of lean meat options that get ignored while meat substitutes are given as the only option for most cases. Pork loin is lean and tastes much like ribs in BBQ sauce. Jennie-o makes lean smoked turkey sausage that taste great. Hebrew National makes 97% fat-free hot dogs. Every store carries 95% lean ground beef. All of these options taste better than those meat substitutes, but were any of them included? Another 'F' for you, Yahoo and Hungry Girl.

I've always loved the PETA (tasty animal) thing. I'm a carnivore through and through, however, since my wife and I started eating "healthier" we tried ground turkey for our tacos and other burger dishes, and I can barely tell the difference, kind of makes the sour cream and cheese worth every bite. On the other hand, nothing can compare to real beef when it comes to Meatloaf. If you're afraid to make a bad meatloaf... Lipton onion mix has a great recipe, and we tried the same recipe with turkey but made them into meatballs instead of loaf. AWESOME!

As a breast cancer patient I am always looking for ways to decrease the fat in my diet. These are wonderful alternatives to eating fast food which we all know is high in fat...even the salad. I am going to get this book asap. Thanks for the info

I read the comments. Some ok some not. I have tried the Baca and Morning Star for quite a long while. After a while it became too, too much to continue with them. It is a good idea to do some things in moderation. I am not putting them down but it is not good to make a (forever) diet of them. You can watch what you eat and always eat in moderation. Vegetarians are ok with their diet. Some meat is good also. But when you combine the two then you have a complete wholesome meal. The thing here is to look at the ingreadients on all things, whether vegatables or meat. Do not use canned products. Always use frozen vegetables, etc. But be sure to read the lables on them also. Organic is good if it is really organic. I found a market that sells orgaic meat & fowl. The flavor is totally different but better for you as it is truly organic. Read the lables (all of them).
Hope this helps to make a better diet for your meals.

Try these options. I myself, cannot eat anything that comes from an animal without feeling sick to my stomach, and besides, the Gardenburger BBQ riblets are delicious!!!!

Silly rabbit... There's no need to cut out meat to lose weight. The important thing is to choose high-quality meat: get good cuts (e.g., tenderloin, sirloin), not the crappy stuff. If you can go organic or grass fed, do it. Bison is excellent too. It does cost more, but (a) it's cheaper than medical bills and (b) if you have less to spend on food, you'll eat less and lose weight.
And yes, it matters what you eat, but also, EXERCISE and PORTION CONTROL are vital. No sense dieting without exercise; you will just slow your metabolism. And no need to eat tons of food for every meal; that's called gluttony.

No meat substitute has ever tasted as good as the real thing! I do want to do my part to live green and eat organic but it's so darn expensive! What's a girl to do?

Human beings are opportunistic omnivores, not carnivores. Life is short, you say? Life is really, really short if somebody kills you and consumes your flesh. When are people going to stop being so barbaric?

You might want to consider the gluten content in all of the "meatless" options offered. Gluten is notorious for causing numerous digestive and long term health issues. Also, the sodium content of these very processed no meat food options is unacceptable.
