This is ridiculous. Why must every one of these snacks contain some sort of nasty, processed, hormone-laden dairy product. Ladies and gentlemen, if you want to lose some of that fat around your ass (and some of the guilt in your soul), stop eating animal products altogether. I guarantee a fresh, vegan diet will make you shed those pounds faster than any brocco nachos would.

I think everyone is being a bit ridiculous here. I would like to point out that in my household my father, who is the cook, works two jobs and yet still has time to make organic and healthy meals. Trader Joe's, Whole Foods, and even good ol' ShopNSave have so many microwavable or quick and easy premade meals that are completely organic and not that expensive. And if you're trying to lose weight, exercise is just as important as dieting, so maybe instead of sitting on the computer looking for things to eat you should all be outside walking, biking, or jogging. And while I would personally not eat any of these suggestions, she did include Kashi crackers which are organic. If you would like to eat the other processed and chemicalized food then go for it, it's your life.

The yogurt/graham cracker thing is really good too if you take the 2 graham crackers and put the yogurt in between and freeze for a couple of hours. It makes a cool treat that kids (and adults) love. My oldest daughter (who is 12-years-old, 5'2", a swimmer, and weighs a whopping 88 lbs) absolutely loves them, along with the rest of the swim team...good energy before meets w/o a lot of sugar, but still sweet enough to satisfy....stupid morons, not everyone who reads this is "obese" or have kids who are "obese"...we look for different options to fit into OUR lives....quit trying to push yours on everyone else who doesn't conform to what you think is healthy.... oh yeah, my youngest, who is 2, likes these as well.....there are no kids in between so I guess my bubble gum dispenser was broke......

I've always mixed a little cool whip with my yogurt. I honestly don't like yogurt without it, but I don't eat it every day, so I don't worry about the chemicals or hyd. oils in it. I also like graham crackers, which are empty calories also. So shoot me! I also eat fruits and raw veggies and REAL cheese to balance out my snacks. Everything in moderation! That's life. Just think...the air we breath is probably far worse than the occasional cracker with cheese or cool whip! So, should I stop breathing, or look for organic air? Come on people, lighten up. Life is way too hard to get through without all this ridiculous bashing! These snack ideas are good. It's up to you if you want to try them or not.

Who pay's these people to post these comments? Must be the manufactures of these terrible products that will eventually kill us. Stick to natural foods - How about an apple or orange?

Good Grief!... After reading some of these comments, it amazes me that people don't see the bitter comments for what they are - just another form of exhibitionism...
I think the recipes sound delicious, and will definitely try them.. If I don't like them, then okay..... but at least I'll give them a try instead of sitting in judgment...

Unfortunately, the 100-calorie snacks that are out there on the market (little bags of cookies, crackers, etc.) trick some people into thinking that they're "healthy". In moderation, most things are ok to eat. When you're having a sweet tooth or need to eat something salty, a 100-calorie snack will satisfy it, as long as that's all you eat! This way you haven't consumed mass calories which is easy to do if you eat a candy bar or a bag of potato chips! Non-fat cottage cheese with a little fruit and maybe some spices, like cinnamon, is a very satisfying snack. Plus you are getting some good things like protein, vitamins and minerals. I also take a couple of spoonfuls of my favorite granola cereal or Grape-Nuts and add it to my yogurt. I have also topped a baked potato with the non-fat cottage cheese. A better choice than sour cream!

WoW! I cannot believe the things being posted here. How do you go from 100 cal. snacks to bashing people and calling them fatties?!? There are a few of you on here who obviously 1) never struggled with a weight problem, 2) don't have a families to take care of, 3) fell into the misbelief that organic is always a better choice (news flash, its NOT. To those of you looking for a healthy snack- anything you do to eat less calories and make healthier choices is good for you. Don't believe the ridiculous things people are saying here. Some people are only happy if they are making everyone else miserable.

oh yeah, one more thing....."natural" foods such as apples and oranges are also sprayed with pesticides and injected with dyes to keep them "fresh" and "appealing". They are picked before they are completely ripe and allowed to ripen while sitting on a dock with mice and other "varmits" crawling around all over them, just waiting to be delivered to your local grocery to be picked over, sneezed on, and touched by 100s of people.... Everyone needs to get over all this crap about "natural" and good for you....heck, go live in a dang bubble and recirculate your own oxygen because what you are breathing IS GOING TO KILL YOU!!!!! There is nothing healthy in this world anymore, anywhere!!! Even all of you "organic" lovers have to realize that your so-called wonderful, healthy foods have been laying around and contaminated by other things in this wonderful environment we called Earth!! Nothing is completely "organic" or "natural". It has been grown in soil that once had fertilizer and pesticides placed on it or in it and has been rained on with contaminated rain picked up from our wonderfully poluted cities......think about that next time you are biting into your celery, carrots, and apples.....

to JLG0779- Thank you! That is exactly what I mean when I say that organic is not always better. To everyone else- There have even been studies linking certain kinds of cancers to products claiming to be all natural and organic. I think to each his own. If you feel better about eating organic, good for you. That is your choice. Just like not choosing everything organic is my choice. I have two beautiful healthy children. They are both well advanced and have higher than average IQ's. Both are within perfect weight and height ranges. Neither of them has had anything organic put in their mouths since they were born. They eat fruits and vegetables everyday- really what difference does it make if yours has a sticker on it that says organic. How do you even know if thats true?!?

People have a right to be "hating" Hungry Girl because when you publish something you're going to have deal with people who criticize what you wrote. I have a beef with this article myself since its promoting an unhealthy lifestyle as a healthy one. Some people such as teenagers and those without much education in the realm of food and cooking will develop the habit of choosing expensive, nutrionally void foods rather than eating what would be a sensible healthy snack. Consider for a second that you are told to be on a diet yet a few snacks mentioned require you have tortilla chips, broccoli and cheese and cool whip in order to make the snack. So if you want to lose weight you should not have these things in your house in the first place but must now go out and buy them in order to make the recipe thus having the unhealthy products in your house which you will undoubtibly eat (a whole bag of torilla chips anyone?). Thus continuing the cycle of junkfood binging.
Yes I know there are times you are too tired or you forget your lunch and you need fast food but these should be exceptions to your diet not something you should incorporate.

i'm gonna have to agree with Christina.......its not always about eating 100 calories to look thin, its more important about whats inside and all those additives and chemicals in tasty foods (which i admit i eat sometimes...) won't do any good even if you are thin...
195. Posted by Yelena V on Fri, May 09, 2008, 7:22 am PDT
Too sugary... most of these. The last thing I want when I'm hungry is something that tastes sweet. Except for the last option - corn chips with broccoli-cheese sauce - everything else is sweet and also laden with artificial sweeteners and chemicals. It's better to have the real thing in moderation than a larger quantity of fake foods.

barf, all this stuff sounds nasty. like who would mix up tortilla chips and frozen brocolli... i bet hungry girl has an eating disorder...i bet she gobbles up laughing cow all nite long!

Processed 100 calories are better than proccessed 500 calories. Sometimes an apple or carrots is not what you want. No one suggesting you eat these all day every day. But there a quick healthier alternative to what you could be eating. Sometimes you just want something cheesey 100 calories processed is better than what you might eat if you wait to long.

My goodness. People are just looking for ideas to better their lifestyle. Many of these things don't work for me because I am allergic to fake surgars, however some people just need to start someplace. We can't all be annorexic supermodels. How about some positive support, negativity is toxic in society...grow up.

I am curious why some of you people will just take the word of sales people that organic really is organic. The FDA does not guarantee that these things really are even organic. So perhaps to those of you who buy these products the store is just slapping a label on foods saying organic to get you yuppies to buy the products. It increases their sales!
Plus eating 100 calorie packs even if stocked full of chemicals is still healthier than the diets of most people these days, perhaps this is someone's first step to a healthier life style, why not encourage them, everyone has to start somewhere.
And why are you wasting your time reading the article let alone making a comment if you do not agree with what is being said? Are you jobless, bored, uneducated? I suggest you do something about it rather than sit around and read blogs and post when you are just being ignorant and rude.
To those of you trying to better yourself, good for you!

hey, I loved the simple things that i can do to stay low carb. I'm new to the whole thing and i work alot, so anything that will be different than cheese and crackers for a snack sounds great to me.

Sometmes we are not ready to hear what we need to hear. Our bodies rely on the nourishments in the food to function properly. This is found in real food. We wouldn't put oil in the gas tank of our cars. Why is it okay to put chemicals in our bodies? Those chemicals send our cellular makeup into a frenzy. ADD anyone?
203. Posted by healthknutt on Sun, Sep 28, 2008, 7:40 pm PDT
Yeah Christina! If we worried more about what we put into ourselves and not how many calories are in them, I think we would all be much healthier. We need to watch our ingredient labels for high fructose corn syrup and hydrogenated oils!!!

i have to say, for people who seem like they are smart adults (or at least good parents or health-conscious people), you all act like children. we can all have our own opinions. i enjoy fruits and vegetables, but if you have one of these options once in awhile, it's not going to give you a terminal illness. we all need to be considerate toward one another even if we can't see each other's faces. ok, i'm done
