Those sound delicious, as usual! This will DEFINITELY help me when I'm looking for a snack and fruit just won't do it. Fruit is too sugary for my insulin levels, so dairy snacks are always my favorites!!

Broccoli nachos? I just threw up a little in my mouth when I read that.

Wow, talk about food additives and chemicals galore. How about some full fat cheese, organic yogurt, nuts and fresh veggies as snacks?? Yeah they might have might calories, but they have a hell of a lot more nutrition, and will keep you satisfied MUCH longer so you're not constantly eating these 100 calorie franken-foods.

Oh, and be prepared for the onslaught of "Oh it's all PROCESSED and NOT NATURAL and HG is just SHILLING FOR BIG FOOD" remarks. It's the same garbage every time HG makes a new entry. I like her ideas, although broccoli and nachos sounds gross. She gives some good options for those of us who watch our intake but want a treat once in a while. And for all of the organic-manics out there - celery and carrot sticks are not quite what most people have in mind when they think of a "treat".

Since when are cancer inducing chemicals a treat?? I'm sure you'll wish you had less "treats" when you develop cysts, digestive problems, diabetes or other health problems.

I don't like all of HG's ideas, but I do like some. She does provide things that are quick and if you work 12 hour days you need that. I don't always have the time to sit around "milking" a cow to be organic or cooking elaborate healthful meals etc...Not to mention the prices of organic food are much more expensive, and I can buy Yoplait for like 50 cents a carton. Basically before you start to judge and bad mouth things take a minute to stop. Just because an idea or concept, or thing is not for you doesn't make it wrong. HG is not the be all and end all about health (far from it,) but that doesn't make everything she says media propaganda encouraging us to become less healthy. She simply offers ideas. If you like them use them, but if not why are you bothering to sit around and say such negative things. That is something I consider quite unhealthful for your mind.

Come on folks. If you don't like what the tips for eating are, dont read the blog! Rather than freaking out about what is said, take the time to start your own tip section for people to read. Stop being negative, its not healthy. Oh and broccoli nachos are great. We eat them all the time on good corn chips with some whole black beans and a sprinkle of corn!

These all sound so great, can't wait to try them. Sometimes quick is just as good as going all natural, if you don't like them don't use them, can't wait to try the yogurt one.

I agree with Christina--this doesn't promote a healthy lifestyle or weight loss whatsoever, regardless of whose products she is promoting. Oh, and you can make quite healthful, tasty meals in less time than it takes to milk a cow, but I guess when you are used to being slothful and eating processed crap that can be microwaved in five minutes, it does seem like an eternity to chop up some vegetables or steam some brown rice.

This is my first time here, and I didn't expect so many negative comments. These snacks offer some great alternatives to the vending machine at work. They are quick and easy, and I can't wait to try them. I agree with Trish...if you don't like the tips, go somewhere else.

JC, that is an extremely thoughtless comment. For those of us who have families to take care of and homes to run, and people on limited budgets, the microwave is a useful tool in the kitchen. It isn't about "being slothful," it's about trying to manage time and money. You also seem to assume that people here to pick up tips rely solely on the microwave, which is ignorant. I enjoy HG's suggestions even if I don't use them, and I make most of my meals from scratch, but the microwave and the processed you seem to scorn is useful in a time crunch.

Stop popping out kids like bubblegum and you won't have to worry so much about them becoming obese at 10 from fruit roll ups and fake sugar substitutes because you can't afford the good stuff.

wow JC, where's the love? empathy? It seems you have some great options concerning better & maybe healthier choices for food, but your comments are so laden with bitterness, why would anyone take the time to heed your advice? Seriously, popping kids out like bubblegum? if it were only that easy. You should be so blessed. I agree with Trish, if you don't like the tips, why read the blog

Suzanne and 347, some folks come here deliberately to see what they can pick out to gripe about. 'Fraid we're stuck with them. Best to skip over the negative stuff. Granted, I did post an unfavorable comment about broccoli nachos myself, but I'm not knocking anyone who likes them. Matters of taste. . .

So much for good food and good fun. I came here kind of by accident and feel that the comments are driven by passions beyond food. Perhaps we could move back to the point and comment on the actual food. I don't need a primer on healthy eating and I find it interesting to see suggestions that might be modified to fit my life. It's not about an organic world and it's not about being a food freak. Just some simple suggestions on foods that might taste good together that I may not have considered before. Thanks for the tips.

How about some old fashion fruits and vegi's instead of all this crap! Go organic and you dont have worry about chemicals and additives. It may be a little more expensive but its worth it in the long run.
