Canned pumpkin is a great snack for dogs. (I never touch the stuff - to me it's nasty). It's healthy, full of fiber, low in sugar, and fat-free. Helps keep the doggies regular, too.

The spritz dressing rock! And now that there is competition, and even store brands, the prices are finally getting better. Vons/Safeway has good flavors in their "Eating Right" brand, I know they at least have Asian Sesame Ginger and Honey Mustard.

Just Tomatoes! is wonderful, they have fruit, vegi's, mixes and alot of organic choices. Try adding a handful to rice or couscous for healthy flavor. I wish you could find it everywhere, but Whole Foods is your best bet (or online).

I agree with banana. Fiber One cereal is amazing. I eat in every morning and keeps me good until lunch with no mid-morning hunger pains, which I used to get with other breakfast foods. I add sweet dried cranberries, sliced almonds and either strawberries or banana. Sooooo good!!

I have made the muffins with the pumpkin before. They are very good. You cannot taste pumkin what so ever! The recipe on HG calls for a can of pumpkin and a box of devils chocolate cake mix. When I have made I did add water and 1/2 cup choco chips. It was a WW recipe. I think they were 100 cal each. Dont quote me on that one though but its close.

Here we go again with the promotion of nasty processed foods. Thanks for the ad yahoo. At least it's better than LOLCATZ. The articles are getting crappier by the day. Ladies STAY AWAY FROM THE MIDDLE OF THE GROCERY STORE IF YOU WANT TO LOSE WEIGHT.

one thing to remember is that your body is growing at a rappid rate so make sure you eat at least 5 fruits and or vegetables per day. Amother thing to keep the wieght off is to consume your DRI with your diary products(you will need strong bones). And eat smaller meals more often this is to keep energey levels up during the day.

isn't anyone concerned about the 11 year old watching her weight and wondering if she needs all of the food groups!?
yes, kiddo, you do need all of the food groups. you are at an age where your body needs lots of nutrition, especially if you are an athlete. your best workouts and performances will come when you are properly fueled. talk to your coach or a nutritionist about your concerns. stay healthy!

I am sick of advertising posing as "information". This is b*ll! Eat fruits and vegetables, any and all kinds and you'll do a lot better than any of the crap in the above article.

This is a good article, she is right about these items, I used to use the top 3 items on the list when I was on weight watchers, Fiber One is an amazing diet food, I used to eat 2 servings of it every day.

I have a 2 yr old daughter and everytime I would buy her those freeze-dried fruits, I always ended up eating more than she did! Don't get me wrong she liked them too, but once I learned how good they were I was always packing them as a snack for me.

Hoenstly, I am never surprised by these ridiculous diet secrets. If modern boxed or canned "diet secrets" really work, why is everyone so fat? Hmmm, eat food as close to its original state as possible. Not a secret but completely confusing to the masses. Good luck!!!

I was happy to see the Graduate baby dried fruit as a snack. I have been keeping my grandson and have discovered those, and the Graduate snacks (they come in peach, cherry and other flavors). Parents Choice also makes little puffs that are corn and cheddar and contain calcium. I snack on all of the above in the evening if I get the munchies while watching tv. I tell people that I am on a "baby food" diet...

This article seems more like a commercial than a helpful information article on feeding oneself. Ingredients are not given so it is impossible to make any valid assessment. For intance, I am always puzzled why people buy expensive commercial cereals always containing sugar, when it is such a trivial task to make one's own. I have multiple grains such as rye, spelt, and oat flakes which I mix and match for variety and cook with oil free raisins which are available from the US. Nearly all raisins sold contain cheap oils, but it is possible to buy oil free raisins such as those by Sunmaid. These grains can be eaten cooked or uncooked since they are pretreated with steam and are directly edible. Thus, an alterative is to eat them raw in the summer with milk and plenty of fresh fruit. You will save yourself a fortune in cost and greatly improve the quality of your diet.

In response to magsue22, you can eat kraft fat free cheese for your calcium, swiss cheese, etc. 1% milk is great too! Weight Watchers bread,...all these things are great for you. Just make sure you eat High in fiber foods, and low in fat. You can eat a lot of things if you watch for those things! Good Luck!
