Top Ate Guilt-Free Frozen Entrees!

Looking for the most delicious, guilt-free frozen entrees out there right now? Lucky you. Hungry Girl chewed dozens of 'em, and now we're telling you which ones are the best...

1.  Lean Cuisine Brick Oven Style Pizza; Gourmet Mushroom

(280 calories, 7g fat, 660mg sodium, 40g carbs, 2g fiber, 4g sugars, 15g protein)

We're always super-excited to find a guilt-free frozen pizza that doesn’t taste diet-y or even defrosted (ew!). Which is why we were giddy the day we discovered this crispy treat from our pals at LC. With creamy sauce, tons of mushrooms, and a perfectly crafted crust, this square (we mean the shape, not that the pizza is unhip) pizza is an HG fave! Chef Andy and the Lean Cuisine crew also dish out Roasted Garlic Chicken and BBQ Recipe Chicken versions of these brick oven babies. Woohoo!

2. Smart Ones Macaroni & Cheese
(270 calories, 2g fat, 790mg sodium, 52g carbs, 2g fiber, 5g sugars, 11g protein)

The ultimate comfort food, mac 'n cheese is one of our favorite make-at-home meals. Unfortunately, the blue box kind (yeah, you know the one) is off-the-charts high in fat and calories. So after testing out tons of guilt-free freezer options, we're proud to name Smart Ones’ Macaroni & Cheese the “Best Guilt-Free Mac 'n Cheese on the Planet." This stuff is packed with creamy, cheddar-y goodness and perfectly cooked macaroni. And the portion size isn't too shabby, either! Keep a few boxes in the freezer for those mac 'n cheese emergencies.

3. Cedarlane Low Fat Garden Vegetable Enchiladas

(280 calories, 6g fat, 620mg sodium, 40g carbs, 6g fiber, 8g sugars, 18g protein)

This Mexican masterpiece rocks our faces off! Zesty and flavorful without being overly spicy, this enchilada entree is chock-full of veggies and other Mexican goodies! We're talkin' corn, bell peppers, onions, olives… not to mention cheese and beans -- all wrapped up in soft corn tortillas. All that for less than 300 calories! We're obsessed...

4. Kashi Sweet & Sour Chicken

(320 calories, 3.5g fat, 380mg sodium, 55g carbs, 6g fiber, 25g sugars, 18g protein)

There's not much we don't love in Kashi’s new line of all-natural entrees. But this chicken, veggies and pilaf dish is a definite standout. The veggies (peppers, mushrooms…edamame!) are crisp and delicious, and the sauce is the perfect balance of sweet and sour. And, the juicy sliced chicken is so good, you'll think your mom made it (if she's a good cook, of course). Plus, this dish is loaded with fiber to keep you feelin' full long after the last bite is gone. Kashi has been doing an awesome job with cereals and bars, and now they're conquering the frozen entree world, too.

5. Lean Cuisine Café Classics Bowl; Three Cheese Stuffed Rigatoni

(240 calories, 6g fat, 660mg sodium, 35g carbs, 4g fiber, 10g sugars, 12g protein)

One of our latest discoveries in the world of frozen food is the Three Cheese Stuffed Rigatoni by Lean Cuisine. While we're not fans of ALL of their Café Classics Bowls, we were truly blown away by this one! It's basically the best packaged ravioli ever. (We know they call it "stuffed rigatoni"…but it's just ravioli with stripes!) The sauce is thick and full of flavor, and the hunks of veggies are hugely impressive. And, we can even name the three cheeses. There's ricotta, romano, and mozzarella! Mmmmmm....this one's an instant classic.

6. BOCA® Meatless Chili
(150 calories, 1g fat, 650mg sodium, 25g carbs, 12g fiber, 6g sugars, 20g protein)

There's no WAY could we do a Top Ate frozen foods list and not include the fiberific, freakishly fantastic Boca Chili! To this day, we can't figure out how the Boca folks have managed to make such a delicious bowl of chili that only contains 150 calories and 1 measly fat gram. For those of you who follow Weight Watchers' Points system, that's only 2 Points! The best thing about this one is that you can combine it with other HG favorites like Tofu Shirataki noodles, low-fat franks, etc., and create dozens of fun, guilt-free meals. We highly recommend checking out this chili!

7. Amy's Mexican Tamale Pie

(150 calories, 3g fat, 590mg sodium, 27 carbs, 4g fiber, 2g sugars, 5g protein)

We love almost all things Amy's, but this tasty tamale pie is truly worthy of a slot on our Top Ate. Packed with beans and veggies in a just-spicy-enough Mexican tomato sauce, this insanely delicious dish is topped off with a flaky polenta crust. This thing is so addictive and delicious, we've been known to eat TWO at once....Shhhhhhh! (BTW, do that and you'll still only take in 300 calories and 6g of fat.)

8. Lean Cuisine Casual Eating Classics; Chicken, Spinach and Mushroom Panini
(280 calories, 8g fat, 690mg sodium, 32g carbs, 5g fiber, 3g sugars, 21g protein)

Wow, a THIRD Lean Cuisine offering has made our list. What can we say; these guys know good guilt-free grub! And their panini sandwiches could very well be their very best offerings. This one's got grilled chicken, veggies, three types of cheeses AND a cheese sauce between two slabs of crusty Italian bread. And, we're not quite sure how they do it, but these things manage to cook up crunchy in the microwave. Yowsa! (HG Heads Up: ALL of LC's panini sandwiches are GREAT!)

All nutritional information pertains to the entire entree.

Most tips today are about losing weight. I have a different problem, after an illness I am 15 lbs under weight but I don't just want to just pile on carbs because I am diabetic. Any tips?

I agree with jennifersvc. These foods may be low in fat, but they are all high in sodium content.

To terryrvogel...I was in the same boat about two years ago. While it is true that you'll need to up your caloric content, you want to do it the smart way. Add an extra grilled chicken breast to your daily routine, or some natural peanut butter and fruit or whole grain bread. Spread out your food as much as possible. And at some point, I would strongly recommend you consider adding whey protein to the diet for at least a few months. There's really no better fat-burning, muscle-building tool than a whey protein shake with milk and fruit (use a blender).

I love seeing everyday food rated from the supermarket frozen section, that almost everyone can afford/buy/locate! I am also concerned about the sodium contents in these foods. Why were the cholesterol amounts left off? I would have loved to see them included since I am watching my weight AND my cholesterol...great job tho!

I have tried several Lean Cuisines and Weight Watchers Smart Ones and I find that they are mostly very good, that is, considering, well, you know, that they are low in calories and fat. My beef with a lot of these is that they have no veggies! They need to add in a serving of veggies to these weight conscience entrees.

They might be low in fat, but they have high cholesterol and sodium. So you have to be careful. I stopped eating them because my cholesterol levels went up. I prefer to make my own low fat meals fresh instead of frozen. These are good if you have no time to cook and want something low fat, but not to eat on a regular basis.
