Kids more than the candy, love just being out with all the other kids with costumes. The candy and other treats are just a plus

I give out "Wendy's FREE frosty's coupons" THey are like 5 for a buck. Then the kids have until the end of the year to exchange them at Wendy's for a 8 oz. Frosty. Good times!

the kids love the really good stuff! Remember the ladies who passed out raisins when we were kids? Yuck! My grandma passed out pennies! I think I will stick with the most popular treats so the kids will like me!

Cool ideas! But let's not get carried away now. I think Halloween is becoming a scapegoat for child obesity -- if you really think kids are getting fat or unhealthy from one holiday you are in denial. Don't ruin what is an awesome day for kids - free candy at (almost) every door!

We'll be giving out a mix of low fat and chocolates both at home and office. His office is having a weight loss contest for the holidays so that means we can try a more vegatarian diet. I like the idea of giving out stuff you don't like, but as picky as I am if I don't like it the kids won't either. Besides, the parents should ration the candy intake.

love the exercise tip. however, last year we had over 100 kids, so I'd be exhausted by the end of the night! might try a few routines every now and then, if we get a break between kids!

I love giving out candy, but when Houston is one of the fattest places, I think I will choose the selfish, and selfless choice of handing out sugar-free candy, or stickers!

we taiked about what to pass out to the booger~chewers this all~hollows~eve &we thought that dry catfood and rocks (little ones) and handfulls of rice(uncooked) oatmeal (gobs) and jigglers made from flavorless gelatin would be great bag fillers(and we have many many other great ideals as well too) ...face it ! most if not all kids today are products of what we feed them and what they are eating today makes them ALL terrors of the over~world these days...THINK! about what candy has done to us and what we intend to do to the next generation............(your really not thinking are you?) ....so, my plan is like so perfect . if we change the snacks to nano~bots incorporated into candy preprogrammed to make the over eater regret not being able to get up for school the next day because their tiny little leggs won't work anymore for ......hmmmmmm lets say 12hrs they will have a new incentive to devise diabolical governmental overthrows the likes of which the country has yet to imagine ..... and that ''could'' be a very good thing....(exactly how pleased are you with all what the Bush's have done to us thus far? i rest my case... give these spoiled little DR.Seuse punks a taste for reality sos they don't commit suicide and try to take the rest of us with them (which has been the case since forever now these days) by cutting back on the crap that led us to be all dumbed down in the first place.....C~A~N~D~Y!!!

Instead of giving out candy, get the pencils that have Halloween decorations on them. It is something that can be used all year long or as long as it lasts.

Buy candy you hate and the kids will hate you too. I always wanted to kick people in the shins for handing me candy corn, circus peanuts, peeps, or jolly roger hard candy. Gimme the chocolate!

Great alternative things to hand out on halloween: Toast, sushi, gefilte fish, rice balls, coupons, and of course CDR's of pirated concerts.

I always give out non-candy treats. Apples are good, but expensive - we get at least 50 kids each year. Last year, I handed out fruit snacks - still a little sugary, but better than candy. This year its pencils, erasers, and bubbles for little ones. They love the toys so much more than candy and they last longer. Also, we do parties instead of trick or treating. You get to control how much candy is available to your kids and when they're too old for trick-or-treating but still want to go with friends - you have the friends at your house. Better alternative in my opinion.
