They're not saying "if you feel bad, go eat and get fat". They're simply suggesting that if you want to improve your diet and change they way you eat, here are a few ideas for snacks and why they'll make you feel better. (a couple product plugs, but how do you think this stuff gets paid for?) If this kinda stuff makes you angry, why keep reading it?

I think that being on a excersise program is a key to a good mood. The day after I go on a 30+ mile bike ride I feel great all day and it makes me carry myself better when dealing with issues at work.

Hungry girl-- I have been looking for a low/now lactose yogurt. I believe LACTAID used to make one and have stopped--at least it's not at any of the "regular" supermarkets in South Florida. Any ideas?

Frederick D - didn't you read this?
brain food and depression food are two different things. also, depression and feeling "sad" or "cranky" are completely different.

I didn't read that apple dippers at McDonalds are good for you just that they have pectin. Not everyone agrees on what is healthy and whats not. There are millions of Idea's. No one knows what works for everyone. So pick what you like and leave the rest. I don't think HG is trying to impose Ideas on anyone , or make anyone I'LL .It's just their opinion.I personally have never heard of them before today. I have mixed feelings on some of what I'm reading .However there's no reason to insult anyone for disagreeing or agreeing. We all control our own thoughts.

i love the fact that there is something at mickey d's that i can actually eat without feeling like jabba the hut!! i get tired of eating apples all the time and always figured the caramel dipping sauce would completely defeat the purpose, but!

Ha! I love the comment that people who read this trash need to get a life. Not only did you likely read it, you took the time to post about it : ) I think people should take this article for what it is...an article on Yahoo. It's suggestions of foods that can help your mood based on the nutrients in the foods and how they work in your body. It isn't saying to go out and eat if you're upset (thereby causing obesity). It is not the end all, be all in nutrition and emotional stability.
On another note...I was unaware that the 8-10 glasses of water/day had been debunked. Anyone have more info on that? I will go check, just curious if anyone else knew.

Hey! Guys complaining about the water myth thing! She is just saying that you need to drink more water. Maybe not eight-ten cups, (she is using an example) but more then your drinking now. For example, I know when ever I'm feeling cranky, it's because I haven't had enough water.
And just because a few scientists say one thing, does that mean your going to fall head over heals, and believe every thing they've said?
Water is life, and I don't see how drinking more of it is unhealthy... as long as your bladder is working.
And, to the 'Fat Americans' comments; Will a couple of grapes hurt you? If so, then you're obviously not using your common sense, and have been misinformed.
She was also talking about drinking more water, which helps flush-out fat. Before leaving negative comments, you guys should read, AND comprehend what she is saying.
I like Hungry Girl's Articles, I mean, even if don't agree with something she suggests, at least I know she has a good reason for suggesting it. She has done her homework, unlike most of the people posting thoughtless negative comments.

SOMEONE MENTIONED WE SHOULD NOT USE FOOD TO DEAL WITH OUR EMOTIONS. I THINK SHE MISSED THE POINT OF WHAT WAS BEING SAID, DEPRESSION IS OFTEN DIRECTLY LINK TO CHEMICAL IMBALANCES SEEING YOUR BODY IS PROPERLY NURISHED ENABLES YOU TO COPE EFFECTIVLY

If you're going to write an article on 5 foods that fight depression, you're going to have to list some specific foods/products. This is not a commercial, these are sugggestions! You know what works/doesn't work for you. Go with it!:)

Me, I LOVE your response - perfect! You put into perfect words all of the things I was thinking and you sound like an educated person who isn't interested in using a website to argue with others. About the water myth: I heard on the news just the other day that the 6-8 glasses/day is bologna. There was a Dctr. on the show who said the following has never been proven: water helps you lose weight, fills you up, clears up your skin (does help w/dryness though) or flushes toxins from the body (kidney's do that just fine). He said that you should just let thirst be your guide and you'll be fine. I agree; I drink a lot of water and I've never seen any real benefit. I hope this helps!:)

WTF! Ok I see that they ARE telling us to eat fruit & veggies. Yes they say Mcdonalds but not a freaking big mac they say apple dippers. As for leave your job or not get a pet what are you in a glass box. Life isn't perfect & you cant quit every job that some one makes you mad at. I am just amazed at sum of these re-marks!

8 to 10 glasses of water is a proven myth for anything good, but if you must believe this then drink tea, coffee, and juices. All three are mostly water. Most people drink enough of these drinks to add up to the 8 to 10 myth.

grapes and grapefruit seem interesting! Lowers your cholesterol? hmm. Never heard of pectin. I will have to look that up, to see if its true. And about bananas. Their not exactly brain food. You can say that about any good food. Bananas are full of potassium and help settle your stomach. They help with acid stomach after a long night of drinking. Ive used that method a few times. It works!

It all depends on the person. everything effects people differently. walnuts, string cheese maybe good for some, but not others. product placment probably pays for this site. at least it's "healthy" food choices.
