why do you need to make her feel special on a first date? You really don't even know her so there is no possible way she could be special to you, at best she is just a person of interest. Be real, women don't ask men out because they don't want to pay the tab.

Hmmm...let's think about this one: why would you want to make somebody feel special? So that if you are interested, there's maybe a teeny-weeny little chance that she is interested in you, doofus! Women don't want to be with men that treat them like crap, so even if you're not sure you're gonna marry your date, at least behave like you're a little interested so that she'll be interested in you. Nothing's more frustrating and pointless than going out with someone who could care less and shows it. If you treat someone like crap, don't be surprised if you get the cold shoulder from every woman in town.

And what if the girl asks the guy out with the intention of paying for his meal/entertainment, and he has an awful time and can't wait to get the hell out of there? Should he still offer to pay? Methinks that might send the wrong signal. It's an equal-opportunity scene out there, folks. You asked, you pay. And I am a girl.

ok seriously for the ppl that are complaining about the guy paying... GROW UP! In an adult relationship it's proper etiquette for the guy to pay for the first date. On the second or third date, you can split it 50/50 or have her pay. If you're gonna be feminist, then you shouldn't date because nothing turns a guy off more than a girl having a power trip. Besides what you think, it makes the guy feel special for paying because it's jis way of showing that he has the money to take care of you.

I remember having a debate over who pays the check in the end, its whoever asks should pay. Usually, if you want to be old-fashioned, the guy will pick up the check. But nowadays, if you're asking that means you're paying, no exceptions. Well, unless you both agree to go to the bathroom at the same time and crawl out the windows, but I doubt you'd find someone willing to do that.

Any woman that wouldn't go out with a guy again if he didn't use valet parking or let the woman pay part of the meal is a shallow woman that isn't worth seeing again anyways.

Helllllllo, Gary Quarton!!! :) Please tell me that you are a friend of "Charro", and that he gave you $5 or a beer to enter your comment after his, to make his comment sound more believable to anyone who believes whatever they read without thinking about it at all. Charro has shown us that he can type something mildly entertaining along the lines of idiot comedy; but I guarantee you that it did not happen. Period.

Yeah, I know that I would actually be offended if I couldn't pay for my part of the bill. I'm not helpless, and I'm not going to let myself feel guilty for letting somebody blow their money on something I got. Though I do like it when a guy does offer, it means he's trying to make an effort.

ABSOLUTELY AGREE--ESPECIALLY ON THE TEXTING--You girls need to listen up on that one--you're almost all bad at this. No answering the phone or texting while out with a guy--I don't do it to them. Like picking my nose--I'll check my phone messages/calls/texts in the bathroom. Otherwise it's just rude.

lol... are you sure about that emmycello77? Most women I know are dating compelte [profane]s that treat them like crap. Remember high school as well? Girls lining up to date the jock that treated them like crap for awhile before moving on? And if you say you don't know any woman like that, you're full of it.
