Let's face it -- Easter is a holiday filled with meaning, tradition, and LOTS AND LOTS OF CANDY! It's also a great time to throw your first spring bash. Since many people have family plans on Easter Sunday, you may want to throw a bash on the Saturday before. Whenever and however you celebrate, do it with an extra dose of foxy style.
- For invitations, purchase some miniature birds' nests at your local craft store or online from Williams Sonoma. Place several chocolate eggs inside. Package it in a small gift box along with a small egg-shaped card with the details of your party.
- Serve up a bountiful buffet with seasonal spring tastes -- mini carrots with herb buttermilk dip, pea soup served in shot glasses, vegetable pancakes with sour cream and chopped herbs, and sliced, roasted ham or lamb with an assortment of spicy gourmet mustards. To drink, offer lemonade and crisp pinot grigio wine.
- Decorate with cheerful shades of orange and green. Create striking and simple centerpieces by alternating vases of tall grasses with sunset-hued flowers like lilies, Gerber daisies, and roses.
- Entertain guests with a screening of Harvey, the wonderfully amusing classic featuring James Stewart and his invisible giant rabbit friend.
- Treat guests to an Easter egg hunt that's not just for kids. Fill large plastic eggs with grown-up goodies -- a tube of lipstick, an iTunes gift card, and so on.
- Cap the festivities off with something to soothe everyone's sweet tooth -- miniature carrot cupcakes topped with a sprinkling of coconut and green and orange jelly beans.
