They may sound obvious, but you would be amazed how many people do not know them. I attended a church wedding a couple of years ago and people showed up in jeans, Tshirts, and even one very unfortunate Spiderman polo shirt. I, in a simple grey suit, felt overdressed and I shouldn't have. The family were in tuxes and formal dresses. These are good rules to follow

These things SHOULD be obvious, by I see more and more people going casually dressed to weddings. Jeans, hats, and even shorts. Obviously people need reminded from time to time that this form of dress is inappropriate. Great article!

Lastly, unless it is a military wedding do not wear a military uniform to the wedding! It is in bad taste because it takes the focus off the bride and groom and places it on you! No one should out dress the special couple on their wedding day. Most higher ranking people know this but sometimes younger enlisted soldiers want to show of a uniform and a wedding is not the place for that unless the wedding is a military one.

Is someone getting paid to write articles like this one? I hope this was a volunteer who wrote it on the way in this morning. That is the only way this article would be acceptable.

Just because you know these doesn't mean that thousands of people break them at weddings every single day of the year. You didn't learn anything, but other readers will. The world isn't centered around YOU.

I like this article and agree with the author on most cases. What is obvious to some is not so obvious to others, kind of like common sense. The one thing I would hestitate to comply with is Mad Hatters and Coattails. Its really not my thing, but we're making an assumption this is for an American wedding. In England, hats are the thing (or they were the last time I checked, lol) where both men and women wear them to show respect same with the coattails. But this is a nice article. :)

but not everyone knows what to wear to a wedding and not everyone has that much common sense..this artical is kinda like those stupid warning lables on things you know like *don't iron clothes while on your body* it makes sense but someone had to do it for it to say not to
