The ideas are ok, certainly nothing new and exciting. As far as co-ed wedding showers are concerned, the question is: Do the men you want to invite actually want to come? Some may be excited to, but many would rather do anything else. My male cousins, for example, hate showers. And so do 99% of my husband's friends.

In the south we have two kinds of wedding showers. One where you can do girls only or one where everyone comes over and brings you a gift all day long instead of feeling stuck like they have to be there, its kind of like the bbq idea but not everyone staying.

I think these ideas are fantastic! I don't know what the other idiots are thinking that made the man only and woman only party comments...but personally i'm engaged and I plan on having something like this with my fiancé so our friends can meet and we can have a good time with all those important in our lives...men and women!

Getting married is about the "couple"!!! Couple showers are great. I know many people that have had them! Infact it is not uncommon for people here to have co-ed baby showers as well!
To the guy that said that a couples wedding shower is also known a wedding reception:
Isn't the shower always BEFORE the ceremony and the reception AFTER the ceremony?

We were married 11 years ago and we did a couples shower then we had an evening of drinking at the jacksons hole sports bar and some uh gifts ( some of them were aimed at the both of us) and then the guys took my hubby out to do the solo thing and the girls and i took wine coolers to my house and watched a chick flick and played games and ate ice cream, It was the best shower i ever had..... I loved it would recommend it for everyone

um... do these really count as ideas for a co-ed shower? It seems like the author went to the food court at the local mall to get ideas while writing this piece.

I gave a coed shower picnic type thing years ago and they are still talking about how great it was. Gifts were presented to the couple unwrapped and exhibited with a card for all to share(not hours of boring unwrapping) we had a dj for dancing, and I gave door prizes away every hour. I would do it again in a minute
