6 Easy Ways To Revamp Your Frozen Pizza Tonight

We're great admirers of those chop-and-dice divas who whip up mouthwatering dinners from scratch... If only we could find the time! Then again, why toil when you can turn out something that looks fabulous and homemade but isn't (quite)?

Whatever your tastes are -- from healthy to hearty -- you can take a storebought cheese pizza and turn it into something your local Italian bistro would be proud to serve. Here are our favorite ways to transform a plain ol' pizza into a dishy dream. Just add some of these custom ingredients before cooking the pizza in the oven (not the microwave) according to the instructions...

  1. El Pollo Pizza   Cut up a store-bought rotisserie chicken, chop some fresh tomatoes, and slice a few mushrooms. The finishing touch is a dose of grated smoky gouda cheese.
  2. Eat Your Veggies  -- happily! We love frozen veggies because they're pre-cut and ready to go (of course, you can always use fresh if you prefer). Thaw some chopped broccoli and sweet corn in the microwave. Matched with some fresh sliced red pepper and a sprinkling of pine nuts, you've got a healthy and tasty treat.
  3. Olive This Pizza  Indulge in some canned pre-sliced black olives or chop up a mix of kalamata and other gourmet olives. Mix in some artichoke hearts and sprinkle with plenty of salty grated pecorino cheese.
  4. Oceans 5  Chop up frozen or fresh precooked shrimp, baby spinach, and top with sea salt, a bit of diced garlic, and crushed black pepper. One of the best combos we've tasted!
  5. Margherita-Ville  A suped-up pizza Margherita is always a crowd pleaser -- and couldn't be easier. Open a jar of sliced sundried tomatoes (drain off any oil), tear up some fragrant fresh basil, and heap on fresh buffalo mozzarella...mmmmm.
  6. Ham It Up  Pimp your pizza with some shaved deli ham and sliced dried figs. Crumble some creamy goat cheese or shaved gruyere on top for a yummy array of tastes.

Been doing this for years- buy a cheese pizza, add some olive oil, more cheese, meats if you want (I usually add anchovies), and a few dashes of Tabasco sauce. Quick and beats some pizza chain products.

It's bad enough "pimp" has made its way into everyday-speak, but when you tell me to "pimp up" my food...that's crossing the line. Get some class.

Buy a bake to rise pizza. Add half a can of garlic and herb spaghetti sauce on top. Add any other desired ingredients and bake on a cookie sheet. I hate dry pizza, and I had to resort to doing this to get what I want. Every pizza chain NEVER puts enough sauce on a pizza even if asked. Also, Pizza chains skimp on ingredients. I can buy the pizza and all ingredients I want for less than half the price of the crap from any pizza chain. As a kid I worked for Davanni's in Minneapolis. I used to make some awesome pies; all hand pounded and tossed. If you live in the St. Paul/Mpls area, I think that they would be a good choice!
