Retro Girls' Night Slumber Party

There's no reason why sleepovers should be reserved for the under-20 set. It's time to turn girls' night on its head. Grab your sleeping bags, stock up on gourmet treats, and get your gossip ready -- we're kickin' it old-school.
  • Sleepover Supplies  Ask guests to bring their own pillows and sleeping bags (or comforters) -- just like grade school! If you have a pull-out sofa, futon, air mattresses, or yoga mats, your sleepover pals will definitely appreciate a the padding.  Otherwise, just have plenty of blankets on hand. The only other essential: retro music. Put together your favorites from back in the day, anything from the Supremes to Stefani.
  • Snack Attack  Create a decked out popcorn bar with all the fancy fixin's--truffle oil, garlic salt, rosemary, paprika, and melted butter with salt and sugar for a little something sweet and savory. Cut up fruits and veggies alongside tasty dips such as whipped cream, chocolate sauce, and caramel for the fruit. And hummus, olive spread and ranch dressing for the veggies.
  • Dandy Candy  Fill big bowls (the bigger the better) with bite size Starburst, Snickers, Kisses, and more to satisfy everyone's sweet tooth. Still not getting enough sugar? Turn the slumber party into a potluck brownie bar by having each guest bring a divinely decadent homemade brownie.
  • Game On  Pull out the Monopoly and other oldies but goodies such as Clue and LIFE for a dose of nostalgic fun. Spread some blankets on the floor so everyone can get cozy while they get competitive!
  • Movie Marathon  Grab a plate of munchies, and cuddle up with pillows in front of the tube. Make it a theme night, whether it's favorite romantic comedies -- When Harry Met Sally and Sleepless In Seattle ... or spooky flicks such as Halloween and Scream.
  • Beauty Sleep  Prepare to swap those tried and true beauty tips. Break out the face masks, nail polishes, and scrubs. Guests can enjoy a little beauty binge before hitting the hay.
  • The Morning After  Don't forget about the next day when appetites are soaring again, and everyone is suffering from a sugar crash. Whip up a cereal bar with a variety of classics (Lucky Charms, anyone?), but in addition to milk offer rice or soy milk for guests who prefer it. Oh yes, and lots and lots of COFFEE!

This is a great idea! It gives the girls a good reason to make the hubby watch the kids and give mommy "me time"! I like it.
