10 Ways to Add Instant Glam to Any Bash

Want to bring a touch of glamour to your next gathering? It's easier than you may think. Small touches can have a big impact -- add pop to your next party with one of these simple and stylish ideas.

  • Paper Pleasures. Jazz up cocktails with custom napkins. Make your own using rubber stamps, or order them online, imprinted with a fun saying or motif. We like www.foryourparty.com for their great selection of colors and designs.
  • Daily Specials. Design a handwritten or printed menu and place it next to the cheese platter or dessert buffet so everyone knows what they're dipping into.
  • Soft Shades. Create ambiance by swapping bright whites with amber bulbs.
  • Sultry Singles. Instead of a floral arrangement, create a striking accent using a single gardenia floating in water or a luscious peony overflowing in a narrow vase.
  • Fragrant Fetes. Accent your home with scented candles to match the mood -- exotic, sweet, sexy, or seasonal.
  • A Grand Entrance. Dress up the front door with a pair of potted palms lined with colored aquarium gravel.
  • Book 'Em. Dress up a coffee table with oversized picture books -- they add color, personality, and a perfect spot to rest serving trays (without scratching the table).
  • Divine Wine. Serve red wine out of a glass decanter and make a $20 Cabernet feel like $40.
  • Beguiling Beginnings. Ditch that bowl of chips and guac and present single-serving hors d'oeuvres in shot glasses -- from hummus and celery to gazpacho accented with a cheese straw.
  • Cheese Please. Summon la dolce vita. Replace the usual hunk of havarti with a platter of fresh figs, tasty Marcona almonds, flavorful pecorino cheese, and aromatic olive tapenade.
