caffeine IS bad for you, short term and long term. Too much money comming into the industry and too many addicts for anyone to really speak out. We all have freedom of choice so drink on, just don't try to blow smoke up my and tell me no harm comes from it. Anything that alters your bodies function in an abnormal way is risky, it has negative side effects to your body and your social behavior. Drink on though, no one has died from caffeine. Or have they?

Come on.. Some people don't always read nutrition facts. If Caffeine is going to kill you, maybe so. But why always post the stuff that is better to not know?

If you drink enough caffeine, it could give you jitters, raise your heart rate, and your blood pressure and even cause palpitations. I guess it depends on your body's sensitivity to the stuff. Sure tastes good though huh?

Actually, knowing the caffeine content per shot of espresso is useful since many people ask for doubles, triples, quads, etc. BTW, at Starbucks, a tall latte has one shot, a grande has two and a venti has three.

"Or have they"
Caffeine in pure form is lethal... something like a drop will kill a 250 lbs man. ever wonder why Jolt cola went away for so long? its cause people were drinking six or seven of them a day, or worse yet using it instead of water to make coffee, then they would end up going into cardiac arrest... same thing can happen with any caffeinated substance if you drink enough. assuming you don't over saturate your cells with the water and the rest of the junk in the drink first.

Very limited report like most have pointed out. I go by flavor starbucks "cup of coffee" sucks. Plus it is way over-priced. I don't like burnt French-heavy beans. Like Horace suggests take a red-bull, if you need that much of a jump start. That or caffeine tablets.

Death from caffeine overdose is relatively rare. Spontaneous emesis (throwing up) usually occurs after a large ingestion. The estimated lethal dose in an adult is 5-10 Gms (5000 - 10,000mg). There are a couple of case reports where individuals survived 22 Gms and 50 Gms respectively although they needed treatment in a hospital.

Espresso actually has LESS caffeine because it is brewed quicker and the grounds are not in contact with the water as long as in regular brewed coffee. Also, the darker the roast, the LESS caffeine.

I won't argue caffene content. Ihave never hada starbucks coffee of any kind. I buy sumatra mandeling exclusively. It is rated to be the least acidic, thus does not cause jitters or heart burn. I only have one cup per day.

We used to drink an 8 oz. cup of regular coffee....what was the average caffeine content allowed....this then became a 12 oz. cup of coffee...so what is the real problem...larger cups of coffee, increased number of coffee cups drunk, or increased amounts of coffeine added...the best of the lot for uy use is half de-caf/half reg./ 120z an and half soy latte...add stevia/and or cinnamon sprinkle to taste....fixed incomers look for cheapest to buy which would you suggest between Maxwell/Folgers.....Mr. Christopher

This is a very confusing chart in that it doesn't say what is meant by "oz". Is it liquid doz per cup which for a latte of 16 ozs would mean 1200 mg of caffeine. Or is it ozs by weight of either beans or ground coffee? I make my own lattes at home. They are double lattes, I consider they contain 150 mg of caffeine. But if I count it by actual ounces in the cup it would be 1800 which doesn't make sense. So I am confused with these calculations. How many ounces of coffee does Starburcks use in a 12 ounce cup of coffee, certainly not 12.........so someone tell this dummy what is being said here please. Thanks. Eileen
