I love candy corn, Laffy Taffy and Necco Wafers! I actually fish through those candy bowls during the Halloween season just to find these treats! Raisins suck, and they are just as bad for the teeth. I always hated getting pennies.

i LOVE tootsie rolls, as do many many many other people that i know. they are so loved that people have tee shirts, pajamas, purses, etc. i also really like laffy taffy, dum-dums, candy corn and fun sized chocolate bars! there are things you left off that i think should have been on there...like pennies, and plastic halloween rings, and homemade items. viva la tootsie!!

I think you ruled out everything that is given for Halloween. I agree with the toothbrushes, apples, and raisins, but I don't see anything wrong with any of the others - especially the fun-sized candy bars. I don't know anyone that hands out whole candy bars. Who could afford that?

I know a guy (it's not me!!) that puts peanuts in with his candy corn and swears it tastes like a salted nut roll. I haven't had the courage yet to find out.

Wow... I always thought those were handed out so we parents had something leftover for us... I have one to add!!! Those oohy gooey peanut butter things in the orange and black wrapping that kind of taste like bit-o-honey but are usually stale and 10 years old when they are sold...

I agree with some and diagree with some. I give out the dum dums and the fun size and candy corn. I also do others like skittles and star burst and a few others. I let the kids pick out 2 or 3 pieces a themselves and I never have any leftovers. They always come back every year too. My mom gave out the same stuff and the kids always said our house was the best one on the street. They always hit up her house first and would try to come back for more after they went to the other houses lol.

Where I live, it was a treat to get a full-size candy bar. Only one house in my part of town gave out candy bars, and they had a house worth three or four times the next fanciest house in the neighborhood. Most kids are happy with fun-sized candy bars and smarties, and most people are having a hard enough time paying their bills that they can't afford to spend over a hundred dollars buying candy bars for strangers.

I can't say that I blame the fun-size people. Buying up a bunch of full-sizes gets real pricey real fast. Plus, you get enough of the little guys, and you have a feast. Though, I'm with you, why they are 'fun-sized' I have no clue. I kinda like taffy....

This list is an OUTRAGE!! Candy Corn is the best part of Halloween. I always eat it in sections... starting with the tiny tip. Its symetrical, its sweet, its colorful...its delightfully delicious!

I'm 18 and I personally love trick or treating. I love getting Tootsie Rolls and Dum Dums. I hate getting apples though. I live in a cold state and they give us cough drops. I've gotten more cough drops than any thing else in my years.

Kids shouldn't complain, if we had to sort through our candy for "worthy" consumables, so should they. It builds character! Not only that but I'll eat the tootsie rolls, dum dums and laffy taffy!!!
