I love you, Ed Levine. You completely get the point of Halloween. This article should become the instructional bible of Halloween candy-giving.
Add pennies to the list, though. No one wants the nasty, worthless coins you fished out of your car seats.

YES..YES..YES.......WE HATE CRUDDY HALLOWEEN TREATS!!!You know...the ones left at the bottom of your kids' bags for 6 months after Halloween...until someone ultimately throws them into the trash...We want real chocolate and bubblegum!!!! (parents have to live vicareously through our kiddos...lol)

Ed, stop. You had me at toothbrushes. You have captured almost everything shaving cream, t.p. and egg worthy. All you missed was loose change and the prizes from the cereal boxes-yes, we had a neighbor who went that route. I was literally howling with laughter by the time I saw Laffy Taffy. Great job as always *tosses Ed King Sized Snickers bar as a thank you*

Everything was totally right on...except the "anything fun sized."
What's up with that? That was always the best candy to get. Good candy is good candy. Who really hands out whole candybars?

Hi, I just wanted to say (no offense to anyone) that I absolutely love Willie Wonka Laffy Taffy in all the flavors. I have bought huge containers at Sam's club and all our guests eat them up. I never had a problem with these sticking to my teeth. I also love the chocolate flavored tootsie rolls too. I know all sugar products are bad for your teeth (especially chocolate). I have to agree on the rest though.

I don't like this list because I love Dum Dum lollipops, tootsie rolls, hard candies, candy corn, laffy taffy and mini chocolate bars. Kids today need the "fun size" candy bars because they are already overweight and don't need a king size candy bar from each house they go to to continue the weight gain. I do agree with the toothbrushes, raisins, smarties, necco wafers and apples. Pennies should be on the list because I remember getting a few of those when I was younger.

dum dums are good.
so are smarties tootsie rolls and laffy taffy.
and i happen to like the old butterscotch candys.
and the funsized candy...
its better than a toothbbrush.
but whats always good is when they give out juiceboxes.
(cuz you get thirsty from walking around all nite)

ohh i love popcorn balls tooo!
they need to start handing out FUZE or energy drinks.
i mean-parents may disagree but you do need energy on halloween. maybe we should stick with fuze.(ITS GOOD FOR YOU!)

Okay, so basically, Ed likes full-sized candy bars and that's it. Got it.
Dum-dum suckers are the best treat to give to little bitty kids - low in sugar and won't choke. Duhhh!

i'm 55yrs old and i love laffy taffy, dumdums, candy corn and those little boxes of dried up raisens, " that most toddlers love " and etc. i guess it's a choice like everything else in this world.

I love candy corn even though it is not really made of corn. I like the little candy pumpkins that come with it too. I can't wait until it comes out each year. I am already on my second bag!

Safe-T pops are by far the worst. Flavorless, often sugar-free (before it was mainstream) sucker on a loop, ick! Growing up, there was a slew of adults in the neighborhood with an anti-choke agenda on Halloween, so we were bombarded with those vile things.

Haha, I totally get this! But I have to say that last year I gave out dum-dumd, wrapped in tp to look like little ghosts. And this year we so bought smarties, tootsie rolls, and that crapy kids candy package. The reason being is I save the real Chocolate for my Halloween party guests and I know that the kids will get plenty of "good" candy from other houses so I dont stress on it! When we are not a young couple and are making over a $100,000 bucks a year we'll give out regular size candy bars, which by the way are 85 cents each and we live on a military base where we get literally hundreds of kids! Last year we ran out of candy Which total sucked! So this year we stocked up on lots and lots of Cheap Candy!!!

I personally dug the tootsie rolls out and ate them first. Laffy Taffy, too. I hated candy corn and those peanut butter candies wrapped in orange or black waxed paper. EUGH!

You were correct right up to Tootsie Rolls, Laffy Taffy and fun size. I still like these treats. You did forget Mary Jane's, Squirrels and Black Jacks. After a quick sort before going out for round two, these always went back in the bowl of candy to be handed out.
