I don't think this is a very good article at all. Maybe it is true for superficial and materialistic deceptive people, but I would like to think that the majority of people out there are not like this.

Well these tips are generally true and good advice but still have to consider your individual relationships. My boyfriend loves it when I buy him a nice dinner and if he cooked me dinner and bought me a new video game, I'd be a happy young woman. But good tips anyway. :)

this "guide" is nonsense. some women love video games. not to mention, my boyfriend of four years is pretty excited that i am going to cook him a really nice dinner. that's not a cop out...it takes a lot of time and effort. also, some women DO love sports. if he got me tickets to the next memphis tigers game, i would be totally ecstatic! you all should do a little more research and not make lists based on total generalizations. this list is a frickin' joke.

i agree with most of them.. guys are so clueless when it comes to buying the prefect gift.. my bf just takes me to the stores and tells me to "pick" something... :(

For # 11 for Her. Actually.. I love to cook and bake and when one Valentine's I received the long-coveted and VERY exspensive professional standing mixer with all the possible attachments -- I was very happy! Although it could just be me... :-)

this is all based on her likes and dislikes. Everyone has what they like and dislike as gifts. And could this have been any less professional. It sounds like a 15 year old wrote it. Is this the best you could find to post? I am supprised that she doesn't mention cooties and noogies, lol.

Dumbest holiday ever. I keep telling my husband not to buy me anything, but his mom keeps convincing him that he MUST buy me something, so I'm always scrambling at the last minute to buy a gift for a stupid meaningless holiday. Thanks, Hallmark! :-(

I don't agree with a lot of the ideas on here I know I would like and I know my husband would like.... Who said guys don't like flowers! My husband loves tulips, and I would love a gift card, DVD box set of my fav. show or movies. You really need to do a bit more investigation before posting something like this!

I'm a man I would like flowers or a romantic dinner AT HOME. Maggie your list is pretty inclusive I mean what is there to give? I suppose the only thing left is to present yourself in plastic wrap at the door ready for sexual favors. Kids...

Once, on my birthday, my husband 'surprised' me with a vacuum cleaner. Not only on Valentine's Day should vacuum cleaners be out lawed. (or 'sweep under the carpet').

LHM post 2 Number 2( roses/ flowers) is for male.. I agree from a male prespective, I would not like my wife to give me roses or flowers I simply would give it back to her or not know what to do with them. The number 2 for female is bathing suit.

About #3 - Speak for yourself. My fiance bought me a Wii and several "non-girly" video games for an early V-Day present and I was and still am THRILLED. And FYI, some women do enjoy football games.

instead of "guffaw" did you mean to say "gaffe"? As a journalist, maybe correct English might be important. It certainly makes more sense. Other than that - (and a few other punctuation and grammatical errors) it's a right on article. I hope my honey reads it.

I agree with everything except for #8 under "Her". I'm one of those sports-loving girly girls and if he got me awesome tickets to the Atlanta Braves/Thrashers/Falcons, etc. I'd be ecstatic! (But then, that's just me...)

8. Tickets to the "big game." Hate to break it to you, but when she said she loved football, she was lying. Save the sports stuff for your buddies.
BZZZZT! I'd love tickets to games... it's my honey who lacks any interest in sports - he's more likely to enjoy the lovely cab sauv I'm buying, and I'd be happy with a nice micro-brew. Don't we think things like this exacerbate sexual stereotypes?

Oh and cooking a nice romantic meal, is a nice gift.
Who said Valentine's day is supposed to be the 2nd Christmas day of the year (well actually first because Feb. comes before Dec.)?
I just hate how materalist love has become. No wonder why half of marriages end up in divorces.

I laughed my butt of reading this, maybe now the bathing suit would look better. :) I love playing wii games. My husband and I play guitar hero all the time, until I kick his butt at it and then he is bored and wants to play something else.
