Does this sound familiar? Ring, ring... "Hello…yeah, it's me. I'll have number 36." Don't be ashamed -- we've all been there, and most of us are still right there with you.

There's nothing wrong with being a VIP at your local Pizza Hut, but the fact is you can actually do it better -- and faster -- yourself. Here's a cheat sheet to get you off the phone and into the kitchen (and then out of there, quick!).

Sweet and Sour Chicken with Brown Rice

15-Minute Fried Rice

Moo Shu Shrimp

Most of these are regular fare at my house. Fast food may be convenient, but the cost, the fat and the e coli are not. Search for copycat recipes on any search engine for all your faves. There are even low fat copy cat recipes. great article, hope everyone will give cooking a try. Miss A

I tried the chicken fajita pizza, cost about $18 in ingredients and about 45 minutes to prepare. I think I'll go to Dominoes next time. =)

Why do your recipes have to be so exotic. How about a recipe for simple guys that cook. Meat and potatoes...maybe talk about new ways to cook traditional dishes.

I will bet the take out tastes a lot better. You state it takes just as long...if not quicker to whip up one of these recipes???? If I leave work and make the call on my way home...I stop by on my way home...and then when I get home...it is ready. If I don't do that...and take your idea, then I have to leave work, stop by the grocery store, get to the house and then fire up the oven and or stove. Start cooking. Then have a mess in my kitchen and have to clean it all up. It doesn't taste as good. And then finally I have less time in the evening for myself to do what I want. Not such a grand idea if you like good tasting and quick foods so you have more of a day to yourself!!! Some of it sounds good for a saturday or sunday meal though.
