In my house we made great appetizers using red and black caviar with cream cheese on mini bagels. I got my caviar and several recipe ideas online at Affordable Caviar.

I think the point is that if you're having a party around the holidays (kwanzaa, channuka, christams, new years) you could choose one of these dishes to serve at any of them. I know people that are Jewish that have celebration parties. It's not just about Christmas! Be open-minded! :-)

To khamoj....I don't think anyone is being "afraid" of what they believe in. However, there are many holidays right now for which people throw parties: Christmas, Hanukkah, Kwanza, even New Years. I definitely saw these recipes and yelled, "Great, I can use this for my New Year's Eve Party!" When people say, "Happy Holidays" and "Holiday party," they are not hiding what they believe in...they are trying to be inclusive of everyone :) Oh, and thanks, Maggie, for the GREAT ideas!!!!!

khamoj, I am not flaming you; but, kindly keep your Christmas-only attitude to yourself. There are holidays of multiple faiths from around the world that are celebrated at this time of year. Diwali (Hindu), Eid al Adha and Hijra (Islam), Chanukah, the Winter Solstice, and New Year's Eve, as well as Christmas, to name a few. Therefore, "Holiday" is appropriate. We should have posts of holiday party recipes from ALL traditions. Tolerance is the name of the game.

khamoj: Its called "Holiday" because it refers not only to Christmas, but also to New Year celebrations and to those who celebrate Chanukah & Kwanza. The point is, there are multiple Holiday celebrations this time of year. Happy Holidays :)

khamoj: Not everyone celebrates a winter holiday called "Christmas". Some people from different cultural backgrounds may honor one of the many wonderful holidays that are celebrated this time of year: Hannukah, Yule, Kwanza, Chinese New Year, Divali, even Ramadan! The author said "holiday party" instead of "christmas" b/c she was trying to be sensitive to the fact that we are all different. This season, no matter what you call it, is about love, peace, and understanding. So please don't ruin it by trying to dictate your personal preference onto everyone else. (Also, it's spelled "believe.")
