I also found that staying away from frilly coffee drinks helps, they are packed with extra calories and sugar. there is a new drink out called Iced Spresso that is so good, and only has like 90 calories and 11 carbs. Its a good substitute and goes well in the mini fridge!

If you shop at the same places I shop for food,,,Did you think anything about nutritional supplements" Which means= food doesn't contain enough fuel to feed the body to keep it healthy and skinny, and Yes, there is crap out in the market place! That is heavily marketed on TV (don't believe everything the tube monster tells you)
Research your self before you buy!
Or simply do what I did, mymnss.com and read the testimony's. I'm there. Lost 100, Now you know why they call me Sparky!

Beer is not the main culprit for the freshman 15. My friends and I never drank once (seriously we don't drink) and we all gained 15 pounds. It was Ben & Jerry once a week and fries with fry sauce from the cafeteria.

ate with some common sense and exercised regularly and i didnt gain a pound. Freshman 15 is for homesick kids who cope by eating/frat boys who try to impress sorority chicks.

You can eat anything you want to as long as you have the motivation to work it off. Its proven that if you want to keep a healthy weight that you should eat 5-6 small meals a day instead of the 3 bigger meals. It stregthens your metabolism and causes your body to not feel hungry between meals. And about that beer thing, you drink light beer, it has fewer calories and its not as filling.

It depends on your college & your environment. For example, some sorority houses' food sucks...and the only choices are a bunch of cereal, poptarts and stuff like that. Most of the girls were still slim, but the pickings weren't all too great. Fresh fruit & veggies were hard to find. Alcohol is a huge culprit along w/the late night snacking that goes along with post-bar binge.

Small hint, Sushi. Lots of it. Going to school in DC helped this, oh, and eschew the beer for some Rioja or Martinis, people will think you're not only classy, you'll find staying fit is 100x easier.

this is good, but it's all common sense. People should already know these things, but I guess some people just need to have it reiterated over and over again

Face it people, every diet/lose weight idea is exactly the same. I've read the same article over and over under different titles and from different authors. Eat smart and don't be a couch potato. Common sense, guys!

I have been sending my son at NCSU packages of healthy snacks from http://www.eastcoastbakery.com/
He and his roommates love the treats, and it make me feel good knowing that they have healthy snacks on hand!
