Quick Jello!? It takes TWO HOURS or until it sets. You gotta plan ahead for some Jello.
Of course, the receipe could be: 1) Walk to fridge 2)Reach in 3) Peel back lid of ready made Jello and eat.

Great ideas. It's so hot here that a lot of my clients have been requesting lightly cooked or uncooked (raw food) for their menus. Of course, that's my speciality, and I'm glad you've brought some of those recipes to the forefront. Kudos, Maggie. ;)

Stephanie

the only thing that is CARB-SMART is the guacamole--the rest of the entrees have 25 to 102 grams of carbs. the 102 is the spaghetti and the shrimp is 13. BEWARE carb counters like myself that is a diabetic !!

Well that sounds delicious but summer time is the best time for that home cooked BBQ over the grill. I am likely to eat and serve the family more from the fridge on the hottest of summer days but try to get something on the grill from meats and potatoes to pocketed fish and veggies I cook on the Barby. And the easier the better but even Jello needs heated water so if you don't plan ahead the only other way to get it is probably from inside the foil wrapped cups in the supermarket. Have a great summer y'all!

Um. Yeah. My little apartment heats up even when I use the stove, not just the oven. Since many of your recipes don't solve that problem, any suggestions NOW?

How about some quick easy receipts? I get home at 10:00 pm at night and I want to make something that I can prepare quickly and tied me over to lunch the next day.
Any suggestions???? I work from 8:00 am to 9:30 pm

I agree with goodgirllaugh, the stove heats up the house just as much as the oven does, which is why my family owns a gas grill. You can adapt most oven recipies for the grill by turning off half the burners and cooking over indirect heat (think chicken, brisket, ribs, roasts, etc.) We have our grill situated close to the back door and in full view from the kitchen window (but still a safe distance from the house), so I nip inside to the a/c between turning and basting, even if I'm cooking things that need frequent attention like burgers, pork chops, or shrimp. For side dishes, we like no-cook, chilled things like salads.

I try not to turn on my oven during the summer. I've actually used solar power, sort of, to cook various dishes on the dashboard of my car. It's worked pretty well -- you can check my blog for details.
