As summer continues to sizzle, many will be hitting the beach to cool off. If you're like me, you want to bring along the latest beach gear. This summer's offerings follows the trend of retro mixed in with new.

Coleman Stainless Steel Cooler
Brought back after popular demand, the Coleman Stainless Steel Cooler was first sold in 1954 and can keep ice from melting for up to three days. It's also leak-proof. $162.99 at Coleman.

Picnic Time Metro Basket
These colorful and waterproof picnic baskets are perfect for keeping sand out of your food while keeping your lunch protected from the sun. Available in red, lime, orange, and beige. $29.99 at Camping Gear Outlet.com.

Sand Shovels
Going to a clam bake, or need a good shovel to dig a hole for your beach umbrella? These jumbo shovels come in primary colors -- just like the ones you had when you were a kid -- and will make any sandcastle builder envious. $8.50 at BeachStore.com.

Grilliput
This unique portable grill can actually fit in your beach bag! Made of stainless steel, the Grilliput weighs less than two pounds and is easy to assemble. $29 at REI.

Oh Yeah, Comfy Beach Chair
Not only is it a beautiful design, handmade with Brazilian cherrywood, but it also boasts ergonomically shaped arms and bungee support systems. It even has a cup holder. $155.99 at BeachChairs.com.

Yeah, I guess the $12 beach chairs at Target aren't good enough to sit in for a couple of hours. Come on, how about some products normal people would buy. Who is going to spend $162 on a friggin cooler???

Right on MCSE4u. How about some beach solutions that don't total over $480 for a day at the beach? Guess this guy writing the article goes to a beach near Beverly Hills.

Beat the Heat with Beach-Bound Must Haves? Uh, how about the 'water'? Oh, that's right, people that actually pay 155.99 for a damn beach chair can't be bothered to swim along side the unwashed masses. *eyeroll* Gimmie a break.

By the time you buy all this, there won't be any money left to go to the beach. Reality check please.

Most people can't afford these things. My plastic $10 cooler keeps my drinks and food cool enough, my $5 chair is really comfortable and since when do people need a shovel to dig holes for and umbrella...you have your own bloody hands to dig it! and what about that picnic basket? if its hot...its not going to keep our things cool. this article is purely for advertisment reasons and not an opinion from the author who probably gets them for free for advertising them. tsk...pathetic...snap back to reality and understand that most people would rather go buy items from a $10 shop than an expensive one.

$$$ - this guy Yang must have just landed in a UFO or more likely a LIMO. We go to the beach often and have a couple of carry-all bags which include beach towels, kites, sports stuff, cheap digging stuff, and lotions. In addition, we take a couple of cheap coolers with ice, cold bear and some sandwiches. Most of this stuff is ready to go and the TOTAL COST for ice, beer, pop, etc is $20 to $40 depending on the day!

Beat the Heat??? How about Beat Your Wallet! Hope Yahoo reads these posts. You can get all the above plus sunblock, snacks, drinks, hats, towels and games at Walmart for 1/4 the price if not less. C'mon Yahoo who are you trying to sell this to and why?

Beat the Heat? How about "Beat My Wallet". Just read Yangs bio and you will see why he offers up this expensive junk. Maybe he needs to survey the posts to see what the real people want.

I agree, all the items were not "must haves" for me. If I could just get to the beach, I would be happy, but for now I will just swim in the pool. And sit in my Wal-Mart chairs! Who would spend such money for a trip to the beach? What are the chances of these items being stolen if you decided to actually go in the water. Mr. Yang shouldn't be so condescending...........

What? $162 COOLER? Forget that!!! And the damn thing is stainless steel too, which means it's heavy as he||! Granted, it's kinda nifty... for RICH people that can throw their money away like it's nothing! What about the rest of us?? How about some actual stuff we can AFFORD. What audience was this article targeting?? Get real.

This article should be re-titled "Beach-Bound Must Haves on an Unlimited Budget." I once bought a $20 beach chair at Walmart that had a cup holder, and it lasted me more than one summer. I don't think anyone needs to spend over $100 for a beach chair no matter what kind of wood it is made out of, unless maybe it massages you AND can lifeguard your kids while you nap. Although I would consider buying the cooler. It would be way more useful on a camping trip though, as I've never spent three days on the beach before.

I live in Daytona Beach,FL. If you go to the souvenir shops they seel beach umbrellas that have a corkscrew in the bottom so you barely have to work at all. They cost $10 or $25 depending on the size of the umbrella. Who actually takes a cooler to the beach. Eat before to go and don't stay there all day. the less you have to lug to the beach the more enjoyable the experience. But, if you must bring a little cooler or even a back pack. Here's my how to stay cool at he bech.. 1) if you want to stay cool go in the water. 2) if staying cool is so important stay at home in the AC. 3) its hot.

Did Yang write this or was it the Michelle Alderson person it has at the end? I've read other things from the Daily Olive that were actually insightful...like the "Icy Cool Fun for Under $20" one. So maybe he's not the culprit here...maybe just the people who write for him. He is the editor, after all.

All this stuff is ridiculously expensive. Stick to the basics that don't cost an arm and a leg. For heavens sake just bring a check cooler with cold drinks to keep you cool, and I don't see how a 155 dollar chair keeps you cool
