Planning a wedding is full of opportunity to add touches of your personality, and choosing a wedding cake topper is just another detail where you can express yourself. Perhaps you've had to compromise some of your party planning visions for your in-laws and family traditions, so maybe save choosing the cake topper for just you and your intended. Here are some fun choices outside the traditional proper-looking bride and groom toppers in their formal wear.

well that is because same sex marriages are illegal in almost all states - regardless if it is right or wrong. Therefore the majority of weddings are heterosexual (simple logic, right?). Anyways, im sure you can get male/male female/female cake toppers at the websites listed. Oh, and by the way, how do you know if the birds are heterosexual ;o)?

Obviously the birds are for homosexuals, because you'd have to be gay to put that on your cake.

My fiancee and I are planning our cake topper and we're both musical - so we're using an acoustic guitar and an upright bass as the toppers.

There aren't any homosexual toppers because gays should not be allowed to get married. It goes against the Bible. God made Adam and Eve NOT Adam and Steve. Homoesexuality should be outlawed in each and every state. :)

When my fiance and i got engaged my mom got us little people "wedding couple" and were putting that on top of our cake kindof like the first one! I think it's cute to come away from the typical "bride and groom" for the top of the cake!

omg, isn't the adam and steve anti-gay comment so very 1990's....chuckle chuckle...anyone who wants to have their relationship sanctioned by the state is just sad if you ask me...whether male or female, same sex or opposite.... i say love and romance without patriarchy! (cake is fine though, yum)

"Gays are just as much humans as heterosexuals....get over it! It's 2008!" A society that accepts sin, will parish, regardless of what year it is.

Thank you for the creative ideas! I am helping my sister-in-law find a cake topper, and I just came upon this really unusual topper that would be appropriate for any elegant wedding. I think it would look beautiful on top of a wedding cake or add style to a special birthday! http://www.bridesvillage.com/rhinestone-vined-crown.html And for those that are looking for something very non-traditional, I came upon this site that offers non-floral bouquets. You might be able to get some inspiration for some unique cake toppers as well! http://offbeatbride.com/tag/bouquet-alternatives
