The selection of melamine dinnerware is pretty vast this year.  Designers have always seen the plate as a blank canvas but I don't recall seeing so many different types of images being applied - from graphic patterns, to photographs, to illustrations.  Here's a wide selection of "around-the-pool" safe melamine tabletop I've found interesting.

Thomas Paul Coral Dinnerware Set

Set a ocean themed table setting with this bold coral pattern from Thomas Paul.  ($34 for set of 4 at Loft Party.)

Woodgrain Set

Watch for splinters with the Smorgas-Board set from Pop Ink. ($40 for set at Elsewares)

Rock n Roll Serving Platters

Add a bit of funk with these serving platters with Elvis or Rolling Stones images. ($9 at Plastic Land)

Floral Melamine $3-5 each

Either this look's like your mom's china patterns or her kitchen wallpaper, now you can have it on these inexpensive melamine plates from CSPost.com ($3-5 each).

Manhattan Melamine Dinnerware

No pattern here, but the squared shape recalls something more contemporary that you might find at your local trendy café.  ($4-5 each at CB2.com)

It's about time that we are "catching up" with what's stylish and pretty in Europe. The square dishes as well as the wood grain have been a hit in Germany for over 6 yrs. already. Glad to see it come to fructition here.
