Though changing your cleaning products is a great first step, there are other things that you can do. Here is a list of things that my family does: 1. recycle all cardboard packaging, cans and bottles 2. reuse plastic bags - wash and then let hang to dry 3. use cloth instead of paper towels - you can buy a large package of cotton wash cloths and keep on hand for spills and clean-up 4. use cloth napkins instead of paper. It is really very easy once you get into the routine of it. 5. compost food scraps and veggie peelings. 6. fill a large pot in sink up with dish water instead of your whole sink. 7. freeze the wrappers from your butter sticks (put them in a ziplock bag in freezer) and use them to grease pans. Just pull it out of the freezer and rub inside of wrapper on pans. 8. Do not use throw-away paper products, even at parties. Suggest to friends that they bring their own plates.

thanks for the tips b dub. most of them i already do, but the cloth vs paper i will try. it's awfully hard. i usually buy papertowels that are made with recycled paper.

These aprons are nice, but kind of pricey. I found a site that has Mother's Day Aprons on sale. http://pollyathome.com/mothers_day_aprons.htm My mom loves her apron and I love mine. They are really excellent quality.

Ok these aprons are cute but who in their right mind would spend that much for a friggin' APRON?!? It's purpose is to protect your clothing from slopping food/ grease/ cleaning products/ ect. on them. I'm sorry but I wouldn't spend that much on something for that purpose.

I love these aprons. There was a time when aprons were another piece of clothing and you should be proud of it. Many women would make sure they were as pretty as possible because they would wear they so much. They actually came from the pinafore before the modern era; women used those day after day to keep their dresses (which were used day after day also) from getting dirty. Laundry on crinolines and large amounts of fabric without a machine is not fun! Sorry for the ramble. But yes, I do like them and there is a reason why they are expensive (though I've seen worse). The quality. You want to have a quality apron here. No falling apart. One minute your dusting, another it's around your ankles?! I don't want that to happen to me! (And yes, I would use it for that! : ) )

Yes Virginia, there are some people that cook and or clean. I really wonder at people who eschew this idea. Aprons are great for keeping food (especially bacon) splatters off your clothes when cooking. There are aprons appropriate for men also. At the price of dry cleaning silk ties, an apron would pay for itself several times over.

Yes, I too love the look of those trendy aprons - but I think they are too expensive for me to buy. If you know how to sew, you can make a cute apron in your choice of fabric and it will be one-of-a-kind and can reflect your unique personality. They even have those sewing patterns "for dummies" that are very easy. I made one for my sister-in-law in a Mary Englebreit fabric (her kitchen was decorated that way) and she loved it!

Making your own is such a good idea! Sewing one would be super cute, but if you're like me and don't know how to sew, you can go to Michael's and buy a plain one for a low price and simply glue cute lace around the top and waist, then replace the ties with lace ones. My friends and I made some when we dressed up as Desperate Housewives and they turned out super cute.
