The Secret to Longer Lasting Produce

My memories of Tupperware from my childhood days mainly revolve around the "Tupperware burp," since we watched countless commercials explaining how to "burp" the extra air out of any Tupperware container. That was about as exciting as Tupperware, with its frosted white bowls and pale colored tops, got. To me, Tupperware was old news and just something my mother used.

I really didn't start paying attention again until my wife brought home Tupperware's FridgeSmart containers from a friend's recent party. These ingenious resealable boxes have two "valves" that you can open or shut to control the airflow and moisture between itself and your refrigerator. The result is that most of your produce will keep two to three times longer before wilting or spoiling. Each FridgeSmart comes with a handy card that tells you whether to open two, one, or none of the valves for the produce you're keeping.

Believe it or not, we've kept heads of romaine around for over two weeks without the leaves turning slimy. Now that's Tupperware that my mom didn't have.

I have the fridgesmarts and do not find that they work well for me at all. I closed both openings and use it for chips. There is a product called lock and lock that I find to be far superior!

I agree with the other poster. Lock and lock containers are way better. You can buy them through QVC in all sizes.

Lock n' Lock are better! Ive used both and found the lockn locks to last even longer and be even more durable. You cn get em on QVC website or google the name brand. You can nevr go wrong with tupperwear if you can't go lock n lock though.

These work better if you paper towel the condensation off the inside of the cover daily.

I have some Lock n Locks too and really like them, plus, they are easy to open and close, just lift the tabs, sometimes I find tupperware hard to close and open.

yes, i agree. lock n' lock is the only way to go. that is the only thing i use to cover and protect my food. They are more durable. You can get them just about anywhere. They come in much more colors also. You have a more of a variety.

So, does the astronomical cost of Tupperware counter balance the amount of food you'd throw away? LOL. It does sound very cool though. No matter how much the plastic costs, you still feel bad when you throw produce away.

I bought the entire set of these, and they are great! They really work, and the set also comes with round hanging containers for onions and tomatoes. A little expensive, but in the long run you save money on produce. Worth the investment.
