I love to make flavored mashed potatoes.......the favorite at or house is adding chees to the mash with a little Mrs. Dash SOUTHWEST blend. They are perfect with barbequed anything!!! Happy Thanksgiving to all :)

*looks at all the "too much work" comments* Cooking is an art, and its not something you do in seconds, perhaps you should go eat at mc donalds for fast yucky food... Seriously people to cook well you need to put a little effort....
What ever happened to plain ordinary mashed potatoes with milk butter salt and pepper---peel, boil, drain, add butter and milk, mash with mixer, salt and pepper to taste. Yummy and very simple. Taste like mashed potatoes.

My Grandma's secret recipe for never-fail wonderful/simple mashed potatoes...One Potato per person and one for the pot - peel, slice, boil in salted water until fork pierces - drain - a couple cubes of butter, then "Evaporated" milk - whip by hand - I swear, these are no-fail and people will love them - without gravy, even...

I'm sorry to be a downer, but this is not only a simple recipe, but kind of boring.
How about the potatoes, with skins on (that is where the nutrients are) and use fat free sour cream, chicken broth, garlic, dill, sea salt, ground pepper, and if you want a bit of butter flavor use butter bud sprinkled in.
I have friends and family that not only request my mashed potatoes, but, place bets with me as mashed potatoes as their reward.

Not so good! Better recipe:
8-10 Idaho Potatoes, Take of skin, boil till tender, drain, put into bowl. Add 2-4 TBS of Real Butter, 1/2 cup milk, salt & pepper to taste, blend till very few lumps.
