I'm from Bucharest, Romania. Yak butter in tea is usual for the Mongols. Try also coffee with vanilla sugar & cream, flavored with just a little bit cocoa powder, floating in the hot cup of coffee... It's not bad!

my parents are from the west indies and they like to have condensed milk with their coffee. i didn't drink coffee until i was in sicily, so the italian way of drinking coffee is my favorite. i've also had turkish coffee in the middle east, and you have to be really careful drinking that one, or you'll get a mouthful of grounds. yuck!

I can't imagine drinking perfectly good coffee with butter in it, let alone cream and sugar. Coffee is best left alone .

I came up with this coffee + butter idea when I was waiting for the food at IHOP with a friend. (As you can image, the wait was long)His response was like most people. It actually tasted good. I did not try it again because I want to avoid fat.

The drug companies are making a big profit by scaring people to moniter their cholesterol.Butter is a natural fat,and so many american's fill their coffee cups full of imitation creamers filled with hydrogenated oils.which can lead to obesity stroke and heart attack, not to mention other diseases, cancer etc.Cholesterol is not the problem. It is an indication that there is a problem somewhere else, and is attempting to repair it.Cholesterol meds say :does not prevent stroke or heart attack.John Ritter had low cholesterol.I believe had his cholesterol level been higher he may well be alive today. My friend's mother is 95 and has had a cholesterol count of over 500 for years,,and she refuses meds. She eats healthy and she says 'that is good enough for her'..Many people do not realize cholesterol serves some good purposes, like it is good for the immune system. I think everything needs to be eaten in balance,,and a pat of butter in your coffee will not hurt. Seriously,if you are THAT worried about your cholesterol, eat a grapefruit a day,and skip the pills the doctor prescribes.

First, the coffee beans are roasted, and guests are given a whiff to see how nice they smell First of all freshly roasted coffee beans do not smell good. They have the smell of burning grass, and after roasting the beans have to sit for at least twelve hours before they are drinkable.

I've used butter in my coffee for a long time now. Just make sure you use 'WhippedButter' and Especially NOT margarine! For special coffee treat. Try Adding Cinnamon Sticks to your pot and add crushed Clove (just alittle very potent) to your grinded coffee beans, along with Ponocha(large brown sugar cubes from your produce section) add alittle half and half, and wella, A Fabulous cup of java!! ;)

Dawn- hot buttered rum and a hot toddy are two different things. Hot toddy is whiskey or bourbon mixed with hot water and lemon, kind of a whiskey tea. Hot buttered rum is butter, brown sugar, cin. nutmeg, clove, salt, simmered til syrupy, (batter) Add to hot water with rum in it.

LOL sally_lane78 that was a hilarious line about the mashed potato. You're kidding right? Anyway, I have used whipped cream in my coffee as a substitute for cream and sugar. Sweetened condensed milk is also an interesting tasting sub. You can make a good "stovetop latte" by heating milk all the while whipping it until it gets steamy and frothy. Add a little sugar to the milk while heating too. Brew extra strong coffee (to be like espresso) and combine the two in a mug to taste. Sprinkle some cinnamon on top. Tastes almost as good as any coffee shop. Oh, you can also sprinkle cinnamon to taste in the grounds before you brew coffee. A dash of salt in the grounds can remove any bitter taste.

I don't know why anyone thinks butter in coffee is strange! People put cream in coffee all the time, and cream is just butter before it's churned. And lots of people add flavoring to their coffee. Just look how popular Starbucks flavored coffees are! I've been adding Tom and Jerry mix or Hot Buttered Rum mix to my coffee for years. It's delicious, and it's basically spiced butter and cream.
