Try soaking strawberries in Mateus(wine from Portugal) and sprinkle with powdered sugar. Then add to Romaine with grilled chicken, chickpeas, toasted almonds.Makes a great salad!

One trick to my salads is dressing the lettuce and veges first. Mix throughly. If you are going to put something fragile like avocado wait until the end to add it. Otherwise it gets mushed into the salad and you don't see it or taste it until the last few bites.

Sorry, but I love salt. A little salt never hurt anyone. Besides, most people consume salt in packaged foods. So stay away from those and a little salt on your salad won't kill you. As with all things...moderation is the key.

candied walnuts and dried cranberries are quite delicious and healthy salad toppers. One of my favorite "fruit" salads is prepared by using stewed pear halves filled with cottage cheese, a tiny amount of grated cheddar, a few raisins, and some fresh cracked pepper.

I just started experimenting making my own salad dressings. I eat salads everyday and I use light salt. I don't like tomatoes without salt. I put everything fresh that I have in my frig and my husband just loves my salads because it is made with all fresh ingredients. I also put a tablespoon of flax seed which not only makes it crunchy, but very healthy.
