cracked/chipped teeth from carrots and pizza crust........WTF are you talking about? I don't know what dentists you have been frequenting or what kind of carrots and pizza crusts you have been consuming, but this is definitely NOT normal mmconsult2003.

All of your suggestions make sense, I'm not arguing with them. Rather, just putting it out there that as far as your smile is concerned, you don't have to stop consuming any of the bad products but just remember to brush after every meal and if you have something like notoriously damaging bush ASAP. It's not the amount of it you eat that causes the problems such as cavaties but rather how long they stay on your teeth.

It never ceases to amaze me how so many different posts are made that have totally strayed from the actual subject matter. That is cool to me. Those never having had a cavity are very fortunate to have inherited the "good teeth" gene. I, on the other hand, was told I had at least 2 cavities at each and every dental visit when I was a child. I inherited my mom's "bad teeth" genes. She had to get dentures when she was 27. Had nothing to do with how well she cared for her teeth. It has been passed down through several gnerations.

I'm from West Virginia and I can not put my teeth in anything because I still have all of my original teeth!!! We do the same as everyone else--BRUSH, BRUSH, BRUSH those teeth!! That's how we keep them so long!!!!

I got even - and had 4 (FOUR) cavities disappear - by using a product called ToothSoap! I gave up toothpaste and saved $720 in fillings. Heard of another Mother and her child - they lost 9 cavities between them - becuase your teeth will re-enamel - the glycerin and other items in tooth paste prevents re-enameling.

Please note that tea DOES stain teeth, they were only implying that it destroys bacteria and gives you better breath. I don't drink tea, and never have for coffee either because it does stain your teeth...so it's either less bacteria or grimy teeth!

Awesome article! I always try to have 1 soda a day, and either have milk or water the rest. I'm not the biggest fan of tea, but I do enjoy it. I also don't think that ALL bread is bad, but it does get sticky sometimes.

I am still curious about soda. I did hear dark soda's hurt your teeth, even diet. But what about clear diet soda?
Also, I don't know about cheese, but calcium is great for teeth. If you don't get enough in your diet, take pills. You need them (teeth and calcium) as an adult.
Lastly, I avoid most cavity's due to a diabetic diet, no sugar candy or drinks. A good brushing is perfect especially post a wild sugar snack, mmm...chocolate cake.

I forgot to mention peanut butter. I used to eat peanut butter crackers before bed, and not brush my teeth. The stuff behind my molars drilled holes in my teeth as I sleeped. So 2 things, brush before bed and post peanut butter.

To mmconsult2003- carrots are not bad for your teeth, only if you have braces it can break off a bracket. If someone's tooth chipped from eating a carrot that most likely means that there was an underlying cause like a very large filling that made the cusps of the tooth brittle in the first place

i like food yummmm i kindve like the food these people are hating on right like bread i can say brea pisses me off if i eat it in the morning EAT ceareal in the morning you wont be pissed off lol lmaooooooooooo!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
swilling water around your mouth after eatign has been shown to reduce plaque build up. I don't eat gum because it gets my digestive juices going and makes me hungry, I also hate the artificial taste. You also should wait for around 20 minutes after a meal before brushing teeth because your mouth produces natural plaque fighting enzymes when you eat, which you get rid of if you brush straight away. i rinse with Pro Health and hydrogen peroxide twice a day to kill bacteria and gingavitis. flossing is also key to healthy teeth and gums.

Yes, all breads...even, whole grains. They are fermentable carbohydrates, which gets stuck in all the pits and fissures of your teeth. But by all means, don't give up whole grains, just try to rinse with water after eating if you can't get to brushing right away.

Healthy teeth should be able to withstand carrots and other hard foods unless someone has weak enamel or wearing braces then they should be avoided. The main point is that crunchy foods help to remove plaque and sticky high carb foods "feed" the oral bacteria and lead to more cavities. These things are backed up by hard research and can be further seen on the ADA and ADHA websites if more information is needed

Cheese! That is yummy. I'll try it. Best for ME! Still, bread still the eat-on-go for me. I'll think my teeth will be better by then. I'll drink the TEA!

Try to brush your teeth or rinse your mouth every time you have a meal and or take a snack. You will minimize food particals from sticking in between the gaps of your teeth. What's more, you will have freash breath too.
