Thank you for making this report public. I am a Dental Assistant and I have found that alot of people do not know this information or do not believe me when I speak to them about this.

RE the black tea suggestion: Black tea stains the teeth (personal experience). The stains will come off but it should be mentioned in an article on "Smile Savers".

Sipping through a straw can give you more wrinkles about the mouth and lips, just like smoking cigarettes does. So it may save your teeth, but your smile will still suffer. Better to avoid those carbonated or fruity drinks whenever possible.

Thank you for this article: I'm always looking for ways to eat & live better considering I don't some of the time. I do agree on cutting/minimizing soda, etc. because I have stopped drinking soda except on rare occasions and I have seen a difference in how I feel. Drinking water is the way to go. And you can add things to water so it's not so bland, like Lemon. Be creative.

sevencostanza, the article doesn't say breads aren't good for you, this article is about your teeth, not necessarily eating healthy. Sure, it's all related, but it doesn't say anything about "don't eat bread!!". It offers the advice of avoiding it if possible if you can't brush your teeth soon afterward.

After seeing a demonstration of cola eatting through corrosion on battery posts, I swore off colas for good ! Since then, I have lost weight and my craving for natural foods (fruits and vegetables) has increased. I've laid off most breads, except for good home-made biscuits and corn bread (it's a Southern thang)

Every Dentist I 've had says CARROTS are the Worst food to eat for good dental health---lots of craked teeth, chips teeth from carrots, pecans-pistachio nuts..ice and pizza crust. So, these article is NOT stating the rreal facts!!

mmconsult2003 - what are these folks teeth made of? How could a pecan or pizza crust break a tooth that has not already been compromised?
I keep a small container of dental floss in my purse. I hate when my teeth feel "dirty."

Duh don't you people read the article before you post. Its not about that foods are good for you and what will help you loose weight. ITS ABOUT FREAKIN TEETH. yeah that goes for you the one who wrote the LONG post about metabolism.

The article isn't saying bread is bad for you. It said that bread, and other sticky food, can be bad for your teeth because it sticks to them. If food sticks to your teeth, it encourages the formation of plaque and bacteria. Brush your teeth afterwards, and bread is fine.
