Oatmeal breakfast bars sold by quaker and othercompanies have more sugar than the real thing but are a yummy quick grab for anyone. They are loaded with vitamins and nutrients and fill you up! They are great for teens on the go b/c you can eat it on the way to school!

im sorry but to the person who said that kids lie about it hurting their stomaches because they eat is not true. It does sometimes hurt them take me for example it honestly hurts my stomach to eat in the morning i have to have been up at least an hour & 1/2 before even tempting to eat. Im in high school the only day that i have breakfast is on fridays because we go into school late which i kind of wish it was the time we started school everyday because like someone else mentioned it is harder for us teens to get up in the morning. My friday breakfast is a 24oz "Juice it Up." Their a fruit juice place and they taste amazing with all the benefits from fruit. so a suggestion is make a fruit smoothy or opt to buying one their very taseful and extremely good for you.

I never used to eat breakfast before going to school because it literally made me gag to eat that early in the morning. It still kind of makes me gag.

I'm grown now, but my mom still tries (over the phone) to make me eat breakfast. I've tried everything from oatmeal to waffles to muffins to bananas. I just cannot stand to eat breakfast. When I'm not hungry, why force myself to eat? I don't find my effectiveness in the day any different than when some breakfast was shoved down my throat. Also, the study may be reporting backwards relationships. For example, kids who wake up early, so that they have time to eat breakfast, generally tend to be better performers in school than those who oversleep. I am skeptical about these results.

I usually give my child a light breakfast a fruit bar and milk. She will usually have a snack a little later of fruit. My problem is vegetables she just won't eat them.

I just recently was able to get my 5 yr old to eat breakfast. What I did was had her pick out what she wanted for breakfast. She started off wanting waffles so i got her that and she ate every morning. Now she wants a more of a variety. She will even eat apples with peanut butter. Nutri grain bars and so on. I think letting them pick what they want is a good start.

Can someone post a link to a legitimate study comparing school performance in kids who ate or didn't eat breakfast? Needs to have at least 100 kids in each category for comparison. Personally, I don't feel hungry in the morning. Whatever happened to listening to what your body is telling you (not hungry - don't eat, hungry - eat)?

I give my kids breakfast everyday whether it is hot or cold breakfast. I believe that every parent should make sure that their kids eat something before leaving for school. Not all children will eat lunch in school especially if they did not like what is on the menu. Unless you make them lunch. so if you care about your children then you would get up at whatever time necessary to make breakfast and make sure that they are ready for school with a little bit of love.

Actually all food of any kind slows my mental functions down for about 2 hours after I eat. And the same for lots of you I bet. Why do you think adults nod off at work after coming back to the office from lunch break? I wish they would address that.

My kids hardly ever ate breakfast. I wish they would have because by midmorning all they were thinking was about lunch. So I know there morning classes suffered. There grades said so too.

out of all meals in a day,i love breakfast the most. when i was in primary school i eat sandwiches or boiled egg for breakfast and milk. Now i have cereal or granola, although it doesn't feel me up but it's enough to keep my stomach filled till lunch time.

I work a full time job, but am lucky enough to be able to work from home one day a week so I can spend some time in my son's classroom. There are kids who don't eat breakfast. The kids have first recess as 'snack recess' around 10 a.m., where the kids again have the opportunity to get something in their stomachs. I think most parents are realizing how important it is for kids to eat breakfast, but you still have to keep the word out.

Im in highschool and i eat breakfast every day. If i dont have time in the morning, then i grab some poptarts, put them in my bag and eat them at school. Im sure kids wouldnt mind doing that. Because i know for a fact that most kids, get really hungry by lunch if they dont eat anything. I eat poptarts and then have a really small lunch and im in a great mood every day. MAKE YOUR KIDS EAT BREAKFAST. It cant do anything but help.

My 16 year old eats breakfast when he can most of the time he chooses sleeping a few mins longer over eating. SO...I try lay something out on the counter a bowl with oatmeal packs and the water already hot, or I'll get out the toaster and put butter and jam ready. I want him to eat and if I can help send him out with a little something I know he does better at school. I cant imagine not having something quick available...like fruit ot the items I mentioned.

"Most Important Meal" is the biggest urban myth in the nutrition field. Note: the article is full of compelling sounding statements - but not a single reference to research supporting the claim. Why? Because there is no research that supports this bogus comcept which is probably put out by the Dairy industry. We need a mix of essential vitimins and minerals each day. All research shows we need to go as low as possible in calories, and minimize even "good" fats. Read R. Walford, D. Ornish and N. Pritikin for more. Finally, get your calcium from vegetables and limit or do way with milk. Its for baby cows. WG

I don't eat breakfast... I don't have time to eat breakfast, or even if I do have time to eat breakfast, I'm not used to eating breakfast. If I eat breakfast, I usually feel like vomiting, just drinking a little water makes me feel that way. But I do eat lunch at school, rice with meat and veggies.

I am a teenager. As a junior taking difficult classes I often find it difficult to go to bed early, much less get up early enough for breakfast. I agree that when i have breakfaast, I preform better in school, but I honestly don't have the time. Usually I do pick up something on the go, like a bagel, and take it with me. However I get to school so late I often don't get to eat it because we are not aloud to eat in the class room.
