dennis_scotty rules... he is on to something... I myself have a little more weight than I want and the only person to blame is myself... I am about to be 40 and am in relatively good shape for my age but could be in a lot better. My only regrets thus far is my own self motivation to do more exercise... Well put dennis_scotty....

I don't touch fast food. It will kill you in the long run. Why is heart disease the leading killer in the U.S. (300-400K a year)? We eat too much empty calorie foods that are loaded with fast sugars, saturated fat, cholesterol and that lack good nutrients. We really should be eating whole foods and skip all of this processed junk that pollutes our bodies. Our health care costs would be so much cheaper if people actually ate better and took care of their bodies. But the pharma, meat, dairy, fast food and medical industries don't want us to know the truth so that they can stay in business and make money off us being ignorant and sick. A nasty cycle in my opinion.

oooh, Mcdonalds food is very favorite for me. I has observe a fast and in this period I prefere to eat vegyburger, salad and vegyrolls. So, I think if Mcdonalds food have less calories, it'll be very nice, because I prefere them so so much.

I prefer a healthy cereal with sliced fruit in it like bananas or strawberries with skim milk or anything made from whole wheat. I stay far away from anything with the words FAST FOOD in it!

I agree that the Egg McMuffin without cheese isn't a bad option when you're on the run and need to eat something on your ride into work. I'll have to consider adding extra meat to substitute. It is a little dry without the cheese but it's a lot more guilt-free.

I think the author of the article should consider things like lactose intolerance and the gluten factor. The sodium level of the egg mcmuffin is in fact quite high for a single food item, I believe that is what the author was trying to convey. I know I have to watch my sodium intake as high blood pressure is a hereditatry fact in my family. Not every diet works for every body-type. Personally, I can't stand the taste of yogurt and avoid it every time, but I have found other alternatives that work for my diet requirements. I think, at the end of the article, a "bone" was thrown for the rest of us. I have NEVER heard of a dietician condoning eating ANY kind of doughnut, reguardless of how small. My mother was a dietician and I didn't listen to her for years!!!

McDonalds offer you a choice to how you order. I order and Egg Mc Muffin no cheese, with two eggs . Ususally only $.50 more and I remove the egg yolks and eat only one side of the bread..it is ymmy and satifying

Why not tell people how much fat / calories at McDonalds if you order an egg mucmuffin without the cheese??? a lot of the fat
calories have to come from the cheese!

jose4fitness is right on the mark! A good high protein /complex carbs with some fiber is the best thing to have for breakfast. That fuels the rest of the day. And we DO need some fat in our diet, for our health plus to satisfy the hunger, nothing does it better. So we tend to snack less on those processed "lowfat" snacks!

All you people who said that nasty word "exercise" are right. I went to a gym for a month and had a set routine to do each time. Three times a week for a month and ate exactly what I had before my gym period. I lost 20 lbs. that month and a lot of inches. It isn't what you put in your stomach (good food you like), it's what you do after you eat. Get off the couch and move it.

I get the 2 for $2.00 Sausage Egg McMuffin special, don't eat the the half of the muffin w/melted cheese, & put 100% fruit jam on plain half of left-over muffin. It's like Atkin's diet with a treat ! And I'm playing more tennis while losing weight. When no McMuffin specials are in play, just get Breakfast Burrito & just eat what's inside of it, not the tortilla. A little sacrifice here & there & the next thing you know, you're pulling those smaller clothes out of the drawers you used to wear !

Thanks Dennis & Jose! We are not all cut out to eat yogurt, fruit and cereal...the greatest thing I've learned lately at age 50 is our body types are all different requiring different foods & calories no one is right or wrong! One thing for sure though is everyone needs some activity daily!

Hi. To start off, I happen to work for burger king and fyi for everyone that doesnt know, they have taken trans fats out of a lot of their breakfast. Cini minis, croissants and even lunch items too. Burger King is actually moving up in the world, cause now they even have delicious apples with caramel sauce. So to go against this article, dont just drive by cause our food is healthier too.

Reducing your stress levels is better for you than anything. Health nuts that eat high fiber, low-fat diets and exercise 5 times a week have been known to keel over from a heartattack. While a guy that smokes, drinks a fifth of whiskey everyday, and eats bacon for breakfast everyday lives to be 100. I'm not saying that healthy eating and exercise won't make you feel better, they do, but if you have really high stress in your life (especially if you add the stress of constantly worrying about what you eat) food and exercise won't count for much. Besides, I found that the less I worried about what I was eating and instead starting focusing on reducing my stress levels, that I craved fatty, greasy foods less and the more I wanted to be active. Just something to think about!

This article is very useful; sometimes when travelling and in a hurry, fast food is the only option. It's nice to have an article that helps find healthier options at the fast food places.
