Less pasta, eat supper before 7pm (leaves more time to burn off some calories), no second helpings, no bed time snack and what others have posted so far.

I believe in exercise; Eat what you want but eat healthy as often as possible but burn as many calories as you take in; That is my key to good physical health.

Some people have health problems that they need to take medicine for that has weight gain side effects. No matter what they eat they can't lose weight!!! Should they quit eating and exercise til they drop? You're also forgetting about people with possible thyroid problems too. You can't believe the ONLY REAL SOLUTION is "diet & exercise"??? REALLY!!!! (If that were true NO ONE would EVER take DIET PILLS or GET THEIR STOMACHES STAPLED!!!! ) GOOD LUCK to all the DUMB humans who wonder why they end up on yo yo diets! THINK ABOUT IT Wake up to reality!!! DUH!!!! NOT EVERYONE EATS LIKE PIGS!!!!!

Include raw or steamed (no butter) vegetables at lunch and dinner and eat them before you eat anything else on your plate. You'll get the nutritional benefit of the vegetables and feel fuller sooner.
I think you should just concentrate on leaving out processed foods. Check what ever you eat, try and eat mostly things that you get from the perimeter of the super market ( basically the outer parts). As you get to the inner isles it tends to get worse. Also make sure you walk as much as possible, don't use your car as often as you do.. learn to walk and by doing so you'll loose weight and you'll save money on gas. Don't drink any forms of sodas, diet sodas are just as bad for you if not worse. The artificial sweetener will make your metabolism slow down and you'll get an urge to eat more. Also make sure you educate yourself, I recommend " In defense of food" and " Omnibours dilema" both by Michael Pollan.
Forget diet fads and don't try to cut out all the "junk food". Realize that the only thing that will truly work is to change your diet: the way you eat every day for the rest of your life. Eliminating all the treats in your diet will only lead to bingeing later. Try cutting out some of the boxed/processed foods and shop around the eges of the grocery store. Oh, and forget the Yoplait! Try a different brand of yoghurt that isn't so overloaded with refined sugar. Read the nutrition panel on a Yoplait, if you don't believe me. Most of all, just be aware of what you're really consuming each day.

The negative calorie phrase refers to a small list of foods (shown below) which contain such little energy that the body uses more energy to digest and absorb the energy and nutrients. This means just from eating these foods there is potential for a net loss of calories from the body or a negative calorie balance, and this is required in order to lose weight.
Negative calorie fruit
Apricot
Mandarin orange
Blackberry *
Melon Canteloupe *
Blackcurrant
Peaches
Clementines Plums
Damsons
Raspberry *
Grapefruit
Rhubarb **
Guava * Strawberry
Honeydew Melon Tangerine
Lemon *
Watermelon
Negative calorie veggies
Asparagus
Fennel *
Aubergine *
Gourd *
Broccoli
Leek
Cabbage *
Lettuce *
Carrots
Marrow *
Cauliflower Peppers
Celery * Radish *
Chicory * Spinach
Cress * Tomato *
Cucumber *
Turnip
Combining negative calorie foods with good protein sources not only helps control appetite but will help maintain the metabolism because total calories are not cut too much, plus the amino acid pool is maintained which limits the loss of muscle.
* indicates very good negative calorie foods
** Indicates excellent negative calories but stewed without added sugar

make your snacks between meals high in fiber and they honestly fill you up fast. I eat fruit or a handfull of fiber one crackers or walnuts and I feel great and not starving when Dinner is ready - also power walking 8 miles a week and not eating after 7 has helped me loose 30 pounds in one year!

Ditto the post about passing this advice on to our children! I know mornings can be a hassel for many but packing a HEALTHY lunch would be so much better for your kids. The schools feed our kids GARBAGE.

Eat three balanced meals a day, include 1 starch 1 veggie, 1 fruit, 1 lean meat no more than 4oz.,8-8oz. glasses of water a day.Be sure to eat all 3 starches and fruits before 6 or 7 pm otherwise your body will store and if not use will turn into unwanted FAT!!

MODERATION is key, I don't diet, I just don't eat unless I'm hungry and do everything in moderation, and if you're like me and hate water, try adding lemon and splenda, and you can down it like soda, and take the stairs, and save gas and park the car, and walk a few extra steps!!!!!!
