Kale is great, stir fry some large leaves for just a minute in olive oil, until shiny dark green, as a veggie to fit cashew and chicken - great for a wrap, inclu some multi-grain rice. Or chop kale and cook or - better - steam briefly on top of not too many cooking (sweet) potatos. Add salt and maybe some spices (pepper) and some butter or cream and a little milk, add bits of almost crunchy smoked bacon and mash roughly, The stew fits well with sausage.

like they said, omega-3 really boosts your mood. so if you eat more fish oil (yuck!) or take fish oil supplements, or even just snack on flax seeds, it really does help. and personally, i think option 2 is the best. just taking one capsule is a lot easier and tastier than the flax seeds or actual fish oil.

Turns out that a little sugar(beet or cane) is OK. Corn syrup should be avoided as it contains mycotoxins, & during lab tests has been shown to have deleterious effects on lab animals. Corn syrup is often added in lieu of sugar because it is much cheaper. Sometimes it is disguised under other names- fructose is one of those names for example.

This was a GREAT article!!!! I also think that there has to be some sort of connection with a happy memory with certain foods that make us feel great...Like a warm chocolate chip cookie or a little bit of mashed potatoes...but I do like the scientific approach.

Carrots! High in carbohydrates and other nutrients. And BEEF JERKY. Just chewing it calms me down. But it has to be good beef jerky (turkey or bison jerky too).

great advice! but, i enjoy eating and i'm very active also: there is no way you'll catch me eating "1/2 an english muffin, 1 small peach"...etc--that sounds too much like skimping--i'll have the whole english muffin and a large peach!

i think that the black bean and spinach recipes are a good idea...and camERon,all you do with the fresh spinach leaves is fry some minced garlic in oil(not to much though, just enough to cook the garlic) then you add the spinach and stir it up good.put a lid on and turn the heat to med-low.check it in 5min and make sure it doesn't stick to the bottom.wait until it gets all wilted down and darker green. after that you can take the spinach, mayo, cheese, and milk and blend it in the blender.use it as a dip for tortillas, corn chips, or carrot sticks.hope you enjoy it
