How about just avoiding the toxic soda (diet and non) completely. Just read the back of the labels of soda and then do some google research on your own. I bet you'll opt for water or fruit juice instead.

this article is so off the mark...if anyone wants to find out the about the ASPARTAME SIDE EFFECTS look for the documentary "sweet misery" or google "92 side effects of aspartame" the last one being DEATH!

This article is WAY misleading. If you want health, not just surviving, but true health.... stay away from anything man-made. Just eat the foods that God has created for us! He created them for a purpose!! As for aspartame..... I did have an ant problem last summer, the ants died within 2 days and no new ones have reappeared.

this article is (for me) very disturbing as it is widely known that the ingredients in diet coke are so unhealthy. I have to wonder the motive behind even writing an article like this!!! WAKE UP PEOPLE!!! the propoganda is everywhere!!

Hey, this article isn't promoting diet coke! nowhere in here does it say drinking chemicals is healthful. Take it for what it is. I agree though, the stuff ain't good. there's no way it can be. it's highly unlikely that it will kill you, but I think you should drink minimal amounts of the stuff

I really wonder how many of these responses include people that smoke? As far as man-made goes, it is best that if you want
totally natural, than eat sugercane right from the garden...

Diet Coke and Diet Pepsi are addictive. I drink about a gallon a day and can't shake the habit.
The article mentions Aspartame, but what about the phenylalanine?
I think this in conjunction with the caffiene that makes the diet sodas mildly addictive.
Most people that drink diet pops don't lose weight, in fact its easy to gain weight. I think that's because the soda pop kills or disrupts the natural beneficial bacteria in the digestive system.
It's also possible that the false sugar taste may trigger insulin to store calories as fat.
Someone ought to look into this, but not with softdrink funding it. The softdrink companies are like cigarette companies. They probably already know the answer and don't want anyone else to know.

half of the info is wrong aspartame is very bad for the body. and drinking diet coke can make ulcers worse,i have arthritis, i never felt better while drinking diet coke
i guess this is a promotion to make people think it is safe
while it's not.

Hmmm...no information shared about how sodas (diet and regular) strip the body of vital minerals, hence the new Diet Coke "with added minerals". Bottom line, NO ONE should be drinking that much soda. And I personally feel there is some addictive chemical in Diet Coke, because if I start drinking it, I crave it like no other soda I've had.

This article is both false and misleading. If people are really drinking so much soda that calories become an issue, they are drinking too much. Ever notice that people who drink a lot of diet soda look tired, unhealthy, and often overweight. This is because the chemical (aspertame, etc.) are BAD for you! Wake up people! Drink WATER!

Seriously, how much did Diet Coke pay the person that wrote this article. The sad thing is that somebody who doesn't know better could read this and think that Diet Coke is a good drink for their diet. Do more research, its crap for you.

luckily for me, i've never been a big fan of soda. although i shamefacedly admit to swilling a very occasional coca-cola when im hung over.
oh, and don't believe everything you read, mkay?

I think that big corporations like Coke, Pepsi, and even the U.S. Government tell you things you need to hear. Like how Diet Coke is not a killing machine. I think that maybe you should start believing things you hear because very intelligent people ( who know more about a subject than YOU ) have done a lot of research on normal everyday products to find any harmful effects they may have on your health and personal well-being. I say KUDOS to the writer of this article. Thank you for your very intelligent and well written display of knowledge and research. Very thoughtful, with just enough humor to keep me interested. KUDOS to YOU !!!

OH!! Who drinks 21 cans of soda a day?!?! If you seriously drink that much soda, you can't be blaming Coke for your poor health. I've never seen anyone out jogging while holding a nice frosty can of Pepsi. Just sayin', ya probably got more problems than spending all your money on diet soda.

21 cans a day? goodness, that almost like chain smoking! LOL!
I personally like Diet Coke ("real Coke" is way to sweet for me), but I also like other diet sodas, water, ice tea, juices, milk etc.
Everything in moderation.

If aspartame isn't bad for you, why are many companies opting to go with Splenda? Not that Splenda is the ideal replacement either. Do they have something to hide? Aspartame is one molecule shy of being paint thinner. This article doesn't face the 'fact' that aspartame is not something anyone should consume, rats or people.

Yes, pretty bad stuff--mostly due to the high sodium content--think water retention, EEK! Caffein is the other villain. If you can get the caffein free variety your half-way home.

Can you all also explain about why diet coke is for fact keep you fat and not skinny. Also it was so funny when i read (in Diet coke may cause cancer) '' Rats aren't people". Yes for sure however rats are very close to humman and that's why we use them in the lab daaaaaaaaaaa.

All these anti diet coke freaks should try being a diabetic for awhile. SUGAR is poison to us! I've been drinking Diet soda for longer than most of you have been alive, and I have suffered no ill effects from it! If you dont like it, then DONT DRINK IT, but please get over your superior attitude!
