It sounded like a good list until I noticed that the baked potato idea was on this foods to help get to sleep list as well as the fight afternoon slump list. Which one is it?! I hate to eat it at work and still fall asleep or eat it at night and be wired!

Instead of eating a bunch of carbs right before bed, why not take a warm bath and play some soft relaxing music to help you calm your mind. Make it a routine every night to give yourself time to downshift from your hectic day. If your mind is busy thinking of everything you have to do, write it down so you're not cluttering your mind with trying to remember. Sweet dreams!!

All these "high-carb" foods would keep me awake. I have learned the hard way with a pasta "buzz" that seriously kept me from sleeping. For me it's better to not eat high-carb in the evening, finish my last meal at least two hours of bed and read for about 15 to 20 minutes. Works like a charm.

Sex works, but when that's not available I use herbal tea (it has no caffeine) or steamed milk with vanilla. I'm not sure that I believe that all of those simple and complex carbs just before bed will do anything besides assure that you can't fall asleep.

Don't be stupid people...food doesn't make you go to sleep.
Who ever heard of eating a bowl of spaghetti before bedtime?
Get up earlier in the morning and beleive me you will sleep like a log.

I think if you are going to give advice to people on how to go to sleep or jump start your afternoon slump you should at least know what you are talking about. I'm not an MD but I am 60yrs old and have been around the block a time or two and these don't make you sleep. I never gave my kids anything with sugar before going to bed. They would have been up all night. Good Greif Charley Brown!!!!
