One of these days the mainstream a.k.a. "the billion dollar diet industry" will actually come to grips with the concept of nutritional cleansing. Then, and only then will people be healthier and have long lasting weight loss results! I lost over 20 lbs in 2007 and I have kept it off. Many other people have lost over 100lbs and kept it off without surgery!! That of course conflicts with the mainstream medical community, so don't expcet your doctor to tell you about nutritional cleansing ( except for yours truly and a few select others).

I have a kidney disease and have to have a low protein diet so this doesn't help me at all! This is the third article I've read that stresses protein. Any other suggestions?

I dont think anything will conteract the "winter weight gain" syndrome. I think it just happens because of our bodies being programmed to do that during winter. But I do think it comes off during the Spring or Summer months!

In Europe people manage to stay skinny despite the amounts of bread and carbs they consume at every meal. I remember having bread 3 times a day with my meal and it took years to shake off that habit. They walk everywhere there and take the stairs. I never realized how much of a difference that actually makes. Also the food is not as processed there is a lot of home made meals from scratch and that means monitoring how much fat and salt you consume.

Its all about the mind, thats where weight loss or gain happens. No one chooses to be fat, they choose to met their needs through eating. Become aware of this behavior and change yourself for the better. My book Thera-Diet talks about this process and how to set yourself free. For more info see my website at www.coolanger.com

To answer - carebears - comment about cold and consuming cold food......... The body would transfer energy to do what you say. THEN, there would be a a second reaction. .........You would begin to have cravings to replenish your body temperature and your blood sugar count. Mitichondria in your muscles, millions of them, they would be saying, I need energy.......And your personal responses to such cravings would kick in. If you can control these and eat a simple snack like an apple you could use this body condition to lose weight. Most people, however, will choose other ways to snack and often consume a whole meals worth of intake in merely trying to turn off such cravings.

Okay guys,I think a lot of good points were raised, but the anger over one online article isn't really what it is about. Food consumption and looks are a societal issue. It's up to the individual to take responsibility for their own choices. We can either try to find realistic information on HEALTH rather than what will make us lose weight. I am one of those people with major body insecurity issues, but it is about how I feel about my body, how I feel when I look in the mirror and knowing the impact what I am eating will have on my body. I know no one else is responsible for my choices. I am not as toned, etc. as I would like to be but I do try to make it a point to focus on healthy food. I do have times when I decide to eat food I know is not healthy, but I don't beat myself up for it when I do. We can decide if we want to consume fast food with incredibly high levels of saturated fat or make healthier decisions. Either way, we decide.

Bottled water is not safer than tap water. Bottled water is regulated by the FDA which has much lower standards than for tap water which is regulated by the EPA. Many states do not even regulate bottle water production. Most bottled water is made by companies like Coke. They just take tap water and run it through a filter. Also, if there is a problem with the water, companies are not required to report it, unlike counties/cities, which must report if there is a problem with the tap water. If you don't like the taste of your tap water, just buy a Brita pitcher. It will clean your water and save on plastic bottles.

Let's be realistic - the only TRUE way to lose weight is to lose the water in your system. Take a diuretic and forget about the diets, workouts, etc. I lost 30 lbs in 6 months on a diuretic pill only. Everything else is a waste of money and time.

I like the way I am. I have been trying for a year to loose weight. I drink alot of water, but I do not really watch what I eat. The men like me and I am in good health. I get to stressful when I worry about my weight,so I take a long walk or go to a place that I will not be judged by and that is church.

I just read a great story called The Best Foods for Dieters in Fitness magazine. There are 30 foods that make shopping really easy. My favorites are the snacks—if you have to eat out of a bag this stuff is pretty decent and healthy.

It's not a matter of "dieting". It's making wise food choices and exercising. I view it as a lifestyle change rather than a diet. Another key is not to deprive yourself of everything you love. Studies show if you do this, you're more likely to binge. If you want pizza once in a while, have it. Just don't have it all the time. I allow myself to have it once or twice a month. I don't eat fast food, I cut out almost all soda (again, I have one or two a month, but usually it's Coke Zero), and I drink plenty of water. As my grandmother used to say, "Everything in moderation". She ate carbs and red meat years old and was never overweight a day in her life. She was active, she ate sensible portions and she didn't overindulge. Someone said eating isn't common sense because if it was, we wouldn't have obese people. I agree, but also disagree. If people stopped to think about it for a microsecond, they'd realize that eating burgers, fries and sodas on a constant basis will ruin your health. How can consuming all those calories and all those fat grams not make you obese? Come on. People just don't care or they don't think about it. The convenience is more important to them than the health effects. We need to be educated, but we also need to evaluate the choices we make.

none of this makes sense. Salads are cold and have almost 0 calories if you don't add gobs of dressing. Yet vegetables can boost your metabolism. Hamburgers are HOT and they add POUNDS everywhere. So this article makes absolutely no sense. fruits are cold and many have 0-100 calories. So where did this person get their information? I'd like to know because it doesn't make any logical sense to say your body needs warm food to stay slim. many of the FATTY foods are hot or warm. Also Hot chocolate or a latee aren't what I would drink if I wanted to stay slim.
