I can't trust anybody who is a vegan. That is just plain weird.

Sorry, but I am not going to eat baby cows (veal) It's bad enough what they do to adult cows... I do eat chicken and fish (yes I know that chickens are probably treated bad as well) But at least the chickens I get are from a local farmer... He processes them much more humanely than Tyson or Perdue....

The buffalo (Bison) is raised commercially. Not eating because of the past is rather silly. There are not more "great buffalo hunts" ranchers raise buffalo as a business. Wild buffalo herds are safe.

They left out goat meat - goat is very low in fat. The animals keep their fat in a layer between the skin and the meat, like a duck. They don't marble the fat like beef. Goat meat is a very healthy read meat. You can get it at muslim butchers, west indian butchers.

I am sitting waiting for the chilli my husband has cooked to be ready and I am salivating at the gorgeous smell!! I bought the buffalo at the farmers market at the weekend. It wasn't any more expensive than beef. We have already had the sausages and they were delicious. I will be back for a lot more at next months market. And its healthy-hoorah!!

I can't believe they included veal in this list. How completely revolting to even mention it in a viable diet. What they do to those baby animals is clearly the work of evil.

If God did not want us to eat animals, why did he make them out of meat? Have a nice day.

Sure, but next week the article will say red meat is bad for you. And buffalo? Good luck finding that in the grocery store. Right by the e coli ground beef and salmonella spinach. (Bleah)

Debbie C - your ancestors would be abhorred with your comments here. My ancestry also is Native American (no, not Cherokee, either) and they ate meat and lots of it. The Natives had 2 uses for their dogs - warning systems and, in bad times, food. Check up on it before you start blathering on how Native Americans starved to death. Sure, Europeans really screwed them, but that's not why they starved to death practically - it was because the Natives were put onto "reservations" that are so desolate that nothing grows. And if you don't have land were grass can grow, you can't grow cattle, either. Have you ever been to a reservation? Respecting animals means a quick and painless death. Looking into their cute eyes is just as much fun as smelling their methane producing butts. Just make sure that your leather shoes, handbag, wallet, and seatcovers didn't come from China, were they use cat & dog hides. You should be thankful for Our Friend The Cow. NOTHING on a cow goes to waste. Also, since when does a horse have a forked hoof?

Fruit and seed? Didn't Jesus eat Fish?.............and if you don't eat meat, don't complain that others do. Do you have leather seats in your car, or a sofa in your house? A wool coat? Leather shoes, belts, etc? Don't be a holier than thou......you'll just wind up being labeled a hypocrite.

I'm sorry but red meat in general is just not ideal for overall human health. You do not need red meat to live a healthy life. For those that eat red meat on anykind of regular basis, you are flirting with long-term disaster. Vegetarians have the best health track record, PERIOD!

Being a vegetarian is not healthier!! My sister was a vegetarian and her first child has had several problems linked to her being a vegetarian. Her doctors and specialist insisted that she would eat meat and she did and her second child had no problems.
