For all of you smokers: I have been informed by a health food manager. That if you drink lemon water and eat foods high in vitamin c. Including all the berry families that you could reduce your negative affects of ciggerettes grately and If you drink black licorice tea you will reduce your craving for ciggerettes and find it easier to quit. I used to smoke. I do not now. I never smoked inside the house either. My neighbors thought I was crazy always outside even in the rain with an umberella. I did not see any reason for my children to smoke just because I did. I did not smoke often but 1 pack lasted me about two weeks.I gave away more than I smoked.I think I was just bored.

I eat the foods on this list - I love fresh fruits & veggies; but I too am overweight. I walk instead of taking stairs (been doing that for over 10 years), I only look for close parking places in bad weather (i.e. heavy rain / freezing or below freezing temperatures, etc), and I get plenty of exercise playing & dancing with my 3 year old granddaughter - yet I can't seem to lose any weight! I don't smoke, rarely drink (maybe a glass of wine with dinner a couple of times a year), so I don' t get it.

I can't believe how some people are so ignorant. How do you expect to be fit if you don't even workout? Yes eating healthy is one half, but, you do have to do some sort of physical activity. Sorry, I had to say that. But, what I really wanted to say was, great tips. Especially the one about the yogurt. I never even thought about using plain yogurt for instead of sour cream. And I do have to agree with most of you on the cost. I try my best, with what I can do. Mainly with the whole-wheat everything, leafy greens, and nuts. Salmon is too expensive for me.

PLEASE don't bring Salmon to work and heat it up in the microwave. I used to work with a nurse that brought Salmon to work every single day and heated it up in the microwave, and it ran everyone out of the room.... it STINKS. My favorite snack is baby carrots. I eat them every day.

I am a big fan of salmon, all I do is broill it with light butter, garlic and rosemary. It definatley beats red meat that takes a couple of days to digest through your system. Can you imagine walking around with that in you intestines for 2 whole days. eeeeeehhh!

I am disabled and not able to exercise. I can eat healthy, but in order to slim down or even tone up, a person needs to exercise also. This is definitely NOT an option for me. I am pretty much chair bound except when I walk around, but I use crutches so any sort of exercising that requires you to stand is out of the question. Chair exercises may keep you limber, but they really don't help the "middle bulge" or any other part of the body that needs to burn fat. Oh well, such is life.
