Moisturizers are not only used as beauty aids. Some people need moisturizers because of their skin condition. According to skin condition, some may need oil based and some may need water based moisturizers. Some may need fragrance-free moisturizer. Hence, you cannot make a general statement that one can use sweet almond oil as moisturizer.

After a shower, I "dry" myselft with a washcloth that I have put babyoil on. It moisturizes my skin cheaply. I have been doing this for years & will be 64 in July, & still ride my horse. I am told I look at least 10 years younger.

Regular lotion, shampoo, soap, etc. could be harming more than just your skin. Please, read "Our Stolen Future" by Theo Colborn, Dianne Dumanoski, and John Peterson Myers. These chemicals act like estrogen, and can cause some serious health problems. My family learned the hard way.

A question for nmlatinauna ~ Can you please post how you mix (the proportions, etc) the olive oil and sugar? Do you use this just as an exfolient? Thank you!

Pass. I have naturally oily skin, so adding more oil will make me look as if the Exxon Valdez ran aground on my face. In fact, I don't use ANY moisturizer - soap and water, plus straight up isopropyl alcohol as a toner.

NEVER use baby oil that contains mineral oil!! Unlike plant oils that penetrate the skin, mineral oil sits atop, causing you to "feel" moisturized for a while. Mineral oil doesn't actually moisturize at all- it stays on until rubbed off or washed with hot water. It clogs bigger pores, causing breakouts. It covers the skin, decreasing oxygen because it doesn't breathe, and as a result the skins begins to slowly suffer. Plant oils always breathe, they are truely nourishing oils. Do yourself a favor and avoid mineral oil, especially on the face.

In addition to what melissaferrigno said, if you are using a moisturizer with mineral oil in it, it doesn't really matter what kinds of GOOD stuff is in it because the mineral oil seals the skin so it can't absorb much of the good ingredients. I stopped using stuff with mineral oil, paraffin or petrolatum in it a few years ago and I have noticed a difference.

you can buy organic sweet almond oil at whole foods in the skincare section .. it is made by Aura Cacia and the best way to use it is to put it on your skin after a shower or bath, then take a hot facecloth and wipe most of it off ... the heat makes a lot of oil sinkright into your skin and there is no greasy feel -- just cleeeaaaaan and soooffffffft!!!!!!

I've been using Certified Virgin Coconut Oil on my face and body for a year and my skin is in great shape. Usually any product that you eat or put on your body should have a very short list of ingredients and if you wouldn't put it in your mouth, don't put it on your body.

Good advice, if you can't eat it Don't put it on your skin. Petro products like baby oil petrify your skin. put a cracker in baby oil and see what happens. It becomes hard as a rock. When God said treat your body like a temple, I don't think it meant to include ANY chemicals. Natural is best

I was recently in greece and bought Olive Oil soap. MY skin has never been better and my face has stopped breaking out from the drying chemical is other soaps. You can order it online in groups very inexpensively and it can be with or with a fragerance.

Note to silancedogz...stay away from the alcohol man! My grandma always told me that those natural oils will help your skin retain its youthfull appearence later and boy was she right!! She had great skin and mine isnt too bad for my age...Im not saying walk around greasy but the drying alcohol cant be good.
