Yes but giving these out as Halloween trick or treats - I remember as a kid getting some healthy stuff - yes some things have improved with taste - BUT KIDS WANT SWEETS NOT HEALTHY STUFF

I think they sound delicous, and I'd like to know where to purchase them (aside from the obvious Trader Joes edamame).
I'd also LOVE to know what mcqueenteresa has done to shed an admirable amount of poundage in a (hopefully) healthy way.

come on, health nuts, Halloween only comes once a year and is the favorite holiday of children- let them have the good stuff! One night of divine (real) chocolate decadence won't send them into health hell...it is fun to have treats...however, that said, some of the healthy treats do sound good and I will try a few of them- in between the green and red M&M's....have a great day!

These "treats" are taking the fun out of Halloween. As a kid, this is the only free day to eat as much junk and sugar you can carry. Why mess up a tradition with heathy stuff?

These things are probably delicious, but if you give a modern-day kid Figamajigs I hope you like eggs and toilet paper because that is what will be all over your house.

it's just too comical the way we americans are always trying to find a 'healthy' way to eat junk food. why? either just eat the real stuff or keep your trap shut and eat nothing at all. my gawd eating has become such a drama.

I am 36 years old, a mother of two, and I weigh 110lbs. Obviously I take care of myself and eat well.. But Halloween is for CANDY!! Come on, who went trick or treating as a kid and was happy about getting an apple? Frankly, if I got anything less than Mr Goodbar (which is the bottom of the candy scale, in my book) it went straight to the trash.
Do not mistake, I have raised my children to make healthy choices, but I haven't forgotten the pure elation of dressing up, going door to door and feasting on that once a year chocolate shmorgus board.. Lets not deprive our children of that!!!!
Happy Halloween!!
:)

She forgot to list Garden of Life's Rainforest Cacao snacks. They taste great and are healthier than anything mentioned in this article. made from naturally fermented and not processed chocolate with just a touch of sugar cane syrup. Low in fat 6 gm per box. high in fiber 18 gm per box. Comes with raisins/coconut or macadamian nuts

Don't be those PC people who give out raisins. We have enough in the world already. I ate candy and threw the healthy stuff away as a kid, guess what I'm fine today!

I love healthy snacks and I will def be picking these up for myself.. however- as a teacher there is no way I can supply all my students with the more expensive alternative to suckers and sugar! Fat is cheap! Its def something that a family has to decide themselves.

This is a great article with very helpful information. It's refreshing to see someone recommending snacks that are healthier and somewhat alternative, but the problem is that the Angel Mints are not as natural as they claim to be. They contain sugar and corn syrup, which are not at all natural. Sugar is processed refined sugar that has all the nutrients stripped away and is processed with petroleum and pig's bones. It's addictive and has often been referred to as "sweet white cocaine". Corn syrup is also refined and processed and is manufactured and sold in massive drums as a cheap commodity. Both synthetic unnatural sweeteners should be replaced with natural fructose, organic evaporated cane juice, Stevia, or brown rice syrup. These are all organic, naturally sweet, and are healthy and good for you.

Wow first the Christians,( Paganism) now the nutritionalists.. How many more ways can you screw up a kids childhood. Lets just take away all the fun, fatening, semi dangerous, edgy and non senior citizen activities that make a kids life fun and carefree. Come on people if you pay even an iota of attention to your kid, one night of candy is not going to make a difference.
Halloween is once a year and i don't think it's right that kids should have to watch what they eat while they are trick or treating. What are they going to say "how many calories are in that" before they accept it or not.

This all sounds great...but as a Mother of three....this is a one time a year thing so why not let them get some real candy...they will be brushing their teeth alot more the next couple of weeks...let the kids have some fun!!
