Hello from St. Louis. We love frozen drinks here, but the bad thing is how quickly the melt and loose their consistency. You should check out KroniK Chill. It is a fantastic way to serve up your favorite frozen drink! Stay Healthy!

We drink a smooty every day. We add coral calcium and a powdered mega green (de-hydrated organic veggies) that give us our daily veggie requirement too. We also add a soy protein powder and find we are not hungry till lunch. We satisfy our fruit, veggie and vitamin needs all at once is a tasty combo

Our daily smoothy consists of - Orange Juice, frozen mixed fruit (berry mixture usually), Peaches (if we have them), 1-2 bannanas, and Ice Cubes. We vary the mixture depending on what we have on hand and what we are in the mood for. (Not sure of calories, although it is a healthy start to the day!)

I only just started having yummy fruit smoothies when I went on the Dr Phil program and find they help cut the sugar cravings in the afternoon say around 3.00pm when I feel tired. A BIG plus is that they feel sooooooooooo decandent ....its like having a lucious creamy milkshake.

Never add sugar to a smoothie. It's grainy, and you might as well go and get a fast food milkshake. Occassionaly berries are a little bitter, so when I make a smotothie and it tastes a little bitter, I sweeten it with a little honey or vanilla.

Use apple sauce instead of sugar. It sweetens it up and at least you get a litte more nutrition out of it. Even the unsweetened apple sauce adds a kick.

My favorite smoothie is quite the ultimate, it includes: 1/2 apple sliced, 1/2 banana, 1/2 beach sliced, oatmeal (can use plain, or the cinnamon weight watchers is a good one too), frozen strawberries, 1 teas. peanut butter, and 1/2 can of XS strawberry protein shake or skim milk.... its an awesome substitute for any meal

No need to follow a recipe for a great smoothie- just put in the things you like and already have! My smoothies typically include one banana, a fresh peach or mango, whatever flavor yogurt I have, orange juice and ice. Absolutely delicious!

Corey - you are incorrect. Smoothies can be very healthy depending on which ingredients you use. There is nothing wrong with using milk so long as it's soy, skim or reduced/no fat. Also smoothies are best as a meal replacement.

I love smoothies also & do buy them from the larger retailers but I also make mine at home. Sometimes I start with rice/soy milk (very cold) & add any fruit. To make it an adult version, try adding 1/4 cup Amaritto to a full blender for a nice desert type treat!

we make smoothies all the time at home! this is our favorite: for the base we use the sugar free drink mix that comes in the single serve packets(you know the ones that you mix with a bottle of water)it's called sunrise and its oarnge flavored, then we mix in 4 to 6 ice cubes, 1 apple(whole), 1 banana, and whatever berry we have at the time(usually strawberry or raspberry) and blend. its so good! We usually have this with a couple eggs for breakfast on the weekends before yardwork!

I drink a whey smoothie after every workout and even on non workout days. My recipe is as follows - 1 cup of soy milk, splash of OJ, half a cup of either frozen strawberries or blueberries, tablespoon of Bob's Red Mill grounded flaxseed, a scoop of whey protein. You can also add a small banana in addition to this for added flavor or for a nutrition boost i.e. potassium. I let the frozen fruit sit for a few minutes in the soy milk to make blending easier.

How Pathetic - even an article about smoothies, a healthy alternative to the crap people eat, the author had to add sugar to the ingredients! No wonder your fat! If you have to make your drink taste like desert, how about honey? But you’re still fat if you think like that. Hey, I’m a poet and I didn’t know it.
Pina Colada smoothie: 1/3 or 1/4 c. "no sugar added" pineapple tidbits, 1 egg white, 2-3 drops of coconut extract, 2/3 or 1/2 c. water. 1 1/2 c. ice. Blend well. Yummy! Contains protein and fruit serving,

For an amazing smoothie texture, try adding ripe avocado to your mix. This is a Brasilian technique for making their version of a smoothie known as a "Vitamina". You will be pleasantly surprised.

You don't need all the artificial sweetners...just use STEVIA...it's a natural plant sweetner...readily available...and you only need a drop or two to make it plenty sweet. If you use frozen fruit, don't add ice, the frozen fruit acts as the ice cubes. Fresh or frozen blueberries, strawberries, raspberries and peaches all make great smoothies with some non-fat yogurt, any flavor...add a little soy powder and it can be a meal.
