Use a castor oil (cold pressed is best) compress to get rid of muscle knots &/or muscle tension. Slather on the oil, but be careful, it will stain clothing. Then cover the oiled area with a warm or hot wet washcloth, next, cover area with saran wrap or similar plastic wrap. Place a heating pad over that, turned up high. Heating pads can burn so be watchful. This works as well as a massage to get a knot out. Even just applying cold pressed castor oil will help. I can find this only at a health food store, but try your local grocery store first to keep your cost down. Might be around $8.00 for a bottle.

To Jenny 79: I would try it -- it can't hurt. My little girl was allergic to milk and had excema, and the doc told me to use gentle soaps, like Ivory Snow or Dreft. The only cream I could use on her was Eucerin (sp?), of course, that was back in the 80's, but I would try it just to save money -- plus you know it's all natural with no perfumes. Good luck. I've done the olive oil thing myself, and it works well especially in the winter months. My skin is really sensative, so the natural oils always work better for me. I'm going to try this too.

My mother used pure olive oil on our skin as kids and I still use it today. I get compliments on my skin daily. I have it in a toiletry bottle on my dresser so nobody knows what it is. My children love it as well. thanks.

to tiffani.eatherton@att.net, try using pure aloe vera from fresh cut leaves. I once had 2nd degree burns on my chest from hot cooking oil that splashed a 3 - 4 inch strip all the way down my chest. After a couple of months and it healed enough, I was able to cut fresh aloe and spread the juice and gel from the leaves on what remained of my burn about three times a day. Now my scar is so faint that people rarely if at all notice it. It doesn't happen over night and does take time, so be patient and diligent with your applications. I would love to hear how it works out for you.

Handmade soaps made with natural oils are good for eczema. I had a customer buy 20 bars of oatmeal almond for her child with this skin condition. Avoid detergents.

Motor oil would not be a good thing to put on your skin, as it is a petroleum product, and toxic to our bodies as well.

My dermatologist's nurse recommended olive oil for my psoriasis when all of the speciality creams weren't working. So I don'tsmell like a salad, I use "light-tasting" olive oil. I get mine at the grocery store. While this treatment hasn't fixed all of my skin problems, it's much cheaper than the medicine-kind and it hasn't hurt my skin either. I think my legs are softer and the hair grows back slower (I wonder if I'm just imagining this part?). Enjoy with some balsamic vinegar! LOL!

After reading this this morning, I went grocery shopping. Could not find this at my supermarket (Stop & Shop). Even checked the healthy food section. Can anyone tell me what store they find it in?

I am a massage therapist and have found that sesame oil is equally effective. It soaks into all 7 layers of the skin, and again, buy it in the cooking section. It's cheaper because you aren't paying for someones brand name label, or for fragrance. Then you can stir fry with the rest!

Hey jenny_79 I just wanted to let you know that flaxseed oil works great for my girls excema. You can buy it at the homeopathic stores and just ask one of the specialist how much to give for a child. Its a nice alternative to steroid creams

Another use of a natural ingredient that mother nature has given us. We have to stop using so many chemicals and get back to the natural ways of living. The ingredients of life are found in your backyard, the garden, the orchards, the fields, the woods, and the ocean. Advertising has got us by the purse strings. Save and go natural your body will love you and your cashflow will be greater.

Fernand G you are so right! We have gotten into so much over medicating and have stopped taking care of ourselves by masking our problems with medication. Mentally, physically and more. Don't get me wrong some natural products can be harmful but its the idea of being aware of what we are putting on and into ourselves. Everyone wants a quick fix and it just isn't that simple longterm.

These ideas are good. But unfortunately for me I have been plagued by acne problems since time immemorial. I wouldn't be able to use anything with oil in it. Oh well, at least I still try to eat right if nothing else helps!

All natural, cold pressed oils are great! I prefer, grapeseed, safflower, olive and organic unrefined coconut oil/butter. As a massage therapist these are very good to work with and don't get rancid as most of the nut oils do. Jojoba is great, but pricier. Emu oil is great for eczema, also pricier. Just sharing what has worked for me.

I beg of all of you ... safflower oil is a miracle cure for majority of eczema sufferers. My daughter had eczema behind her ears and was moving down her face and neck. Then someone told me about an old remedy, safflower oil. She took 1 teaspoon a day for 3 days and applied it (dab) to her skin (zero taste). By day 5 it was gone. Please note that her eczema was bloody, with puss and scabby. When she would wake in the am her ear would be stuck to her head and we would have to peel it away. Sorry to be graphic but want you to know she did not have a mild case of it. She and the rest of us have great skin now. We cook with safflower and I use it as a moisterizer too. My friends with eczema have all had the same luck. Please pass this on to others who suffer. It makes me sick that drs/pharmacutical companies aren't trying this first, instead they crank out the prescriptions. I am not saying this will work for 100% of the population of the world but I have seen it work on my friends and family. You can buy it at health food, grocery stores and occassionaly Wal-Mart will have it on the top self. Google it and research it yourself. God Bless!

I used to use Grape Seed and Olive Oil for skin, but the Ralph's by my house finally started stocking Safflower so I tried it. Its good and like the other two oils I mentioned, does not contain harmful toxins like some creams and lotions do.
