I've done this before but without the sauce; just Pam on the grill and lay the fruit on there until it gets the char marks of caramelization. Serve with fat-free vanilla yogurt or as they are. Don't know why he wants to add all that other stuff; didn't he learn anything about grilling from SpongeBob?

my kids don't eat any kind of baked fruit pie with that yummy pie crust; (not even with ice cream added), so I doubt they'd be wild about eating it off a stick. YUK!! Give me pie ala mode ANYDAY! i'll just do an extra couple of miles on the treadmill. HA!

Don't use margarine as a substitute for the canola oil! Margarine is the worst fat you could ever eat! Canola oil is one of the healthiest...I agree that you don't need to add the sugar though, fruit is naturally sweet already.

This sounds really yummy! I'll definitely try it. For those concerned about "slathering oil", canola oil is a pretty healthy oil choice. And, the small amount of sugar is negligable and gives a nice carmelization. At least the kids are eating whole foods with something like this. I use organic sugar, btw, and it's wonderful. Oh and to the people that get all mean on these message boards.. can you try to imagine all of us standing in a store, in the produce department, all screaming at each other and calling each other names because you disagree with this recipe? When you post online, imagine yourself saying those things to a stranger. The world has enough heartache as it is.. why add to it by being angry and mean?

Well, well, well, Thin for a Reason, just look at what you've started! I never eat fruit rollups my self, nor would I give them to a kid I wanted to speak to me ever again. I've got a feeling, though, that they probably have a bit of refined sugar and some other processed chemicals that are far worse than a brushing of oil and sugar. Oh, and Sean C? A1 sauce is made from raisins, so when you put it on meat...HOT FRUIT! Ain't this a small, wonderful world?

I have to agree with sean c, I hardly ever follow a recipe exactly. Instead of everyone griping about the recipe, how about you just not use it, or alter to taste?

if you dont want to use oil then instead of doing a kabob just wrap it up in tin foil, and instead of using sugar try honey instead.
