The World's Weirdest Burgers

At the burger blog A Hamburger Today, we have come across some pretty wacked-out burgers. Here are 10 of our favorites. And by favorite we mean, may never actually eat them because we're scared.

The Fatty Melt

1. Nut Burger: Famous at Matt's Place in Butte, Montana, the nut burger involves a layer of coarsely ground peanuts mixed with mayo. It's kind of like a peanut butter sundae just hanging out on top of a patty.

2. BadaBoomz Donut Burger: A bacon cheeseburger on a glazed donut "bun" available at the BadaBoomz Ale House and Grill in Indianapolis, Indiana. Save time by combining your favorite breakfast and lunch! And feel awesome/nauseous after!

3. Megadeath Burger: For health reasons, you have to be over 18 to order this, and can't have heart problems, anxiety, or asthma. Available at Wall Diner in Wellington Point, Australia, the "world's hottest hamburger" contains chili jam, chili powder, jalapenos, and habañero sauce -- all in quantities any sane person would not voluntarily eat.

4. Venezuelan "La Diabla" Burger: No wonder it's translated as "the devilish." Sold from a street cart in Caracas, Venezuela, this one layers: ketchup, mayo, mustard, onions, cabbage, shoestring potatoes, more ketchup, mayo and mustard, avocado, tomato, burger patty, chorizo, chicken, eggs and bacon, and a mountain of shredded Roquefort cheese.

5. Parisian Pizza Burger: The name might be confusing, but it's not a burger-topped pizza or a burger made with pizza toppings. (Both natural conclusions.) It's a burger with mini-pizzas for buns available at Buzz Lightyear's Pizza Planet at Disneyland Paris.

6. Jucy Lucy: Seven ounces of burger with a molten core of cheesy ooze. That would be American cheese ooze, because "only those orange squares of vaguely plastic texture will achieve proper fluidity," as burger writer John T. Edge put it. The alleged home of the J-Luce is Matt's Bar in Minneapolis.

7. Cheeseburger in a Can: Have you ever thought about how perfectly can-shaped a burger is? Or burger-shaped a can is? This product is marketed to German campers.

8. Scottish Deep-Fried Cheeseburger: Because the Scots have been known to fry anything (candy bars, pizza, etc.) two discs of frozen meat with processed cheese get deep-fried. No bun involved because what nutritional value do buns really offer?

9. Bacon Cheeseburger, Literally: It might look fairly ordinary, but this patty is not made of ground chuck or sirloin -- or any kind of ground beef. Ground bacon, kids. Throw on some slices of pepper Jack cheese for good measure.

10. Fatty Melt: This was a DIY project by a curious Serious Eats editor in the food website's Manhattan office. It's a burger with two grilled cheeses for buns. Yes, you read that correctly. Now go forth and make one.

For quick dinners you can make at home, try one of these Burgers for Everyone.

That is disugusting. Absoutely appaling that a human being would come up with these ridiculous ideas, and that anyone in their right mind would be willing to try that. Just like Man Vs Food. I watch that show solely because I expect that one day, probably not too long from now, that dude will drop dead or have a heart attack on teleivision. I don't wish that upon anyone but the dude is straight up asking for it.

I would have liked the recipes for these too. I would eat most of them, especially the pizza and grilled cheese variations since pizza, grilled cheese, and burgers are my favorite foods. For you health nuts out there, the fact is that every body dies eventually no matter what you eat, so deal with it. In the cosmic scheme of things, what does it really matter if eating or doing something you enjoy kills you a little quicker (besides no matter how much healthy crap you eat most people die from something not at all related to their diet).

many of those sounds delicious. And if your gonna eat pizza or grilled cheese relatively around the time you eat that burger, I dont see how people say its gonna give you a heart attack or anything stupid. If for lunch you have a grilled cheese and for dinner you have a burger, its not making you more healthy then eating them at the same time...

Come on people, lighten up! I love the idea of a burger between 2-grilled cheese sandwiches! But Adam missed Columbus, OH's famous Thurman Burger: The head honcho overloaded with ham, mozzarella, american cheese, lettuce, tomato, mushrooms, sauteed onions, pickle, peppers, and mayo with chips and a pickle spear.

I have been to the mountain top and had the deep fried cheese burger in Edinburgh. It is heavenly. Fried in lard, mind you, but the one I had all the fixings inside too, pickles and tomatoes and onions. There's no bun because it soaks up the grease too much... I had one and that took at least three months off my life... but it was totally worth it.

How could you leave off the Terrible Garbage Burger at McGuire's in Pensacola? It has a little bit of everything including peanut butter and fried egg. I had one in 1991 and still haven't forgotten it.

Add this one to your cookbook. Mine, All Mine, I claim the rights to it. The Ham Burger!!!! Just take a 2 quarter pound of sirloin, fatty or lean it doesn't make a difference. Add 3 small round ham steaks and 6 slices of American cheese. Use the bottom of a hamburger bun to use as the center and put it all between a Kaiser roll. What do you think?

Nothing like a burger fried up and put on the bun. It has to be hot, so that it can melt whatever cheese is on it. Cheddar all the way.

The Fatty Melt is not big deal. We have seen that for eons on menus as a PATTY MELT...which is really just a grilled cheese on rye with the burger in the middle (onions or not by choice). It's been around since at least the 40's if not before that. Also not limited to just beef patties...try it with a turkey or chicken patty or slices piled up! Also it's really good with various types of fish (esp left-overs pieces of grilled fish from dinner the night before)

Fresh beef I grind myself, cooked over hickory laced coals, medium rare. Caramelized onions, swiss and pepper jack cheeses, tomatoes, mayonnaise and dijon mustard mixed, rosemary kaiser roll, toasted. . To assemble: swiss on bottom half of roll, then burger patty topped with(in this order) pepper jack, caramelized onions, tomatoes and mayo/mustard mix on top half of roll.
