Table runners

Materials
Tape measure
Fabric for top of runner
Scissors
Iron
Felt for bottom of runner
Pins
Needle and thread
Pinking shears

Determine the size of each runner: For the length, measure the width of your table. Add 12 inches for overhang and 1 inch for seam allowance. The runner's width should accommodate a large place setting, plus 1 inch for seam allowance.

Cut fabric to size, then press under 1/2-inch seam allowance on all 4 sides of fabric. Cut a piece of felt about 1 inch larger on all sides than the pressed fabric.

Center fabric on felt, right side up, and pin. Topstitch around the perimeter of the fabric close to the edge.

Using pinking shears, cut the edge of the felt, leaving 1/2 inch visible on all sides. (This is purely decorative because felt does not unravel.)
